You have probably been wondering how it works and if it is worth giving a try. Before you try to use Bill Me Later on your own make sure to read this article as it will save you a lot of time and hassle.
I will come right out and admit I am no fan of the Bill Me Later payment system. Even though I am not a fan of Bill Me Later and you still want to give Bill Me Later a try then you should still read the rest of the article because it will give you insights into how Bill Me Later works which will help you to start using Bill Me Later and save you a lot of time and headaches. As I have had such a negative experience though I am hoping I can steer you clear of this horrible system and save some people the trouble of trying to use Bill Me Later.
I saw Bill Me Later on a few sights and thought it sounded good for me especially because I do import exports and the sites I saw offered between 3 and 6 months time to pay for my items before having to pay any fees. If I paid for everything on time I would have no fees. While I had money to pay for the good and I was being safe by making sure to only make an order I had the money to pay for I would still be able to keep that money in my bank earring me money until I got the goods sent and sold. Worst case I would have to pay them what was owed which I would have to pay anyway but at least I would be making a small return on that money.
So I looked for a online store offering what I wanted at a good price and offering 6 months before I had to pay. So I signed up and made my order it asked me a bunch of questions and I had to click on the right boxes. It said it needed to verify my credit first which was no problem. I did all this stuff which I assumed was what needed to be done to sign up because I gave all the information you would expect to give for signing up. I start getting e-mails from Bill Me Later. The amount of e-mails was over the top and got to be annoying.
One day I see that one of the e-mails says my payment is due. It should not have been due for months but I have the money so I decide I will just pay. So I decide to pay the next week. The day I am going to pay I get a phone call saying I am late on my payment! My payment was not supposed to be due for months but the new time that they were claiming I was due was still not due for a week how could I be late.
So I try to log in on the site to see the problem. Well all that information I gave was not enough to get me in the system. I thought I just did not know my information. I tried retrieving my information but it would not just give me the information by giving my e-mail I needed some kind of number which was supposed to be in my e-mails. I am sorry but it you lose your log in information you probably do not know things like your log in number I ma less likely to know that then my log in name. If I had signed up I do not know how I ever would have got my information without calling.
After realizing that the Bill Me Later website would not give me the information I needed or let me log in or even send me the information I needed to log in I finally called Bill Me Later. I was unable to get in touch with Bill Me Later for some time. While I would expect to be told that operators are busy but I could wait I was not even given that option but told all operators are busy and hang up and try again. So I had to keep trying before I finally go on the phone. Then I had to deal with the machine which had limited options and when I finally get a person they could not help me. I had to be transferred to someone else.
This person explained things like while I gave pretty much my whole life history I was not actually yet signed up with Bill Me Later so I could not use the site to check my info. Nowhere told me any of this I actually read my service agreements and all the things I had to click and it told me hardly anything. I explained the situation and after a long talk they offered to make a case out of it to check and see if I was given 6 months instead of 3 months in which case the extra charges would be dropped and I would be given my full time. The other option I was given was to pay now and they would take off the late fees. I told them I wanted to just be over with it so I would pay then. If I had them make a case it would have taken even more time.
I actually took the time to read all of the stuff that I had to click to agree to and all the e-mails. In none of that information did it say I had to pay in three months but in six until the e-mails came. Nothing in the e-mails explained how to get signed up for the online account with Bill Me Later which make little sense to me because it would seem like it would be easier for people to use if they could go online easier.
I felt that I had not done anything wrong and that the mistake was Bill Me Laters. I felt that even if no mistake was made I would have had to call to make my payment instead of use the website because Bill Me Later did not give enough information for you to know how to get your account set up. I also was unhappy with customer service, while I was able to get the fees lifted I had to threaten to contact the better business bureau in order to get them to do anything. The customer service was hard to get in touch with and was not particularly helpful or friendly though I was finally able to get things taken care of. I felt Bill Me Later did not make it easy. If they had done everything right which I am not convinced they did and have all the e-mails showing what they said from one point to another so doubt they are right it still would not have been easy to make a payment.
Overall I would have to say my experience with Bill Me Later was very poor. While I had hoped to use them again I am now planning on never using them. I would not recommend you use Bill Me Later. I will say the one positive note is I was eventually able to get the fees taken away and just pay for what I bought though I should have been able to do so much later.
