A new Big Brother 12 spoiler was sent out by the official Big Brother Facebook Group on Friday. This Big Brother 12 spoiler was a pretty big one too, as the Facebook Group announced who had won the HOH competition on Thursday night. The only problem was that the HOH competition didn’t finish during the taped CBS presentation of Big Brother 12 on July 22, leaving many fans in the dark about who had become the latest Head of Household. These endurance challenges that drag into the night have become familiar territory for CBS and Big Brother over the years, and it was announced that fans could see how the HOH competition turned out on Sunday’s regularly scheduled airing of the show.
Someone working for the Big Brother Facebook Group decided that it would be a great time to post a poll question on Friday about what was going on at the house. That question (spoilers coming) was, “Who do you think Matt will put on the block??” The question gave away the news that Matt had indeed won the latest Head of Household competition, and that he would be deciding who the two nominations for eviction were going to be. The problem though, was that fans had trusted the show to not spoil this fact for them, especially when they were told that the new HOH would be revealed on Sunday’s Big Brother 12 episode. Now the question comes up as to whether or not people should subscribe to anything Big Brother related if they don’t have access to the live feeds.
Nearly 2,000 comments have been left on the poll request by the Big Brother Facebook Group, and it is still turning out to be a spoiler for people checking their Facebook posts today. One commenter named Heather Johnston wrote, “OMG, spoiler! I guess I shouldn’t check up on here.” Another commenter by the name of Stephany Bartz posted, “Low blow. Tv viewers won’t find out till sunday night. Not cool.” It echoed the sentiments of a lot of Facebook users, who subscribe to the feed to find out news about the show, and had been under the expectation that spoilers would not be posted. The group is now split though, as quite a few users say that spoilers should be expected. As the number of users subscribing to the group drops, maybe the people running the group should re-think posting spoilers after CBS says fans should wait.
The biggest question in all of this, is if the spoiler posted by the Big Brother Facebook Group will kill the ratings for the Sunday, July 25 episode on CBS.
