BET Awards 2010: Best Dressed
Prince, for his colorful, unique self-portrait tunic, tight white pants and heels higher than any woman on the red carpet. His eyeliner might have been more carefully applied, too. For these reasons, Prince is on this BET Awards 2010 Best Dressed list. It was funky, it was fun: it was Prince.
Alicia Keys was the winner of two 2010 BET Awards tonight, for Best Female R&B Artist and Best Collaboration (with Jay-Z), but her fashion sense should be honored, as well. Alicia Keys showed off her new pregnancy curves and her barely-there baby bump in several different 2010 BET Awards outfits, including an adorable purple, strapless mini with sweetheart neckline and a tight, black number worn during her Prince tribute. Keys’ fashion arrangements hit all the right notes tonight! Classic Best Dressed list material.
This year’s BET Awards show host, Queen Latifah, also deserves Best Dressed mention for several of her multiple 2010 BET Awards outfits. Her hair and make-up looked great, as well. Singer Brandy also looked sweet as she strolled the red carpet.
BET Awards 2010: Worst Dressed
Soul singer Monica won the 2010 BET Centric Award tonight, and she looked adorable doing it from the waist up. Her white blazer and sleek hair-do looked darling, in fact. However, her choice of footwear has landed Monica square on the Worst Dressed list this year. The thigh-high boots Monica wore when she accepted her Centric award looked as if she could take them home, tear them into strips and and use them to foil potatoes for baking. Worst Dressed. Period.
Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas ended up on the wrong end of the BET Awards 2010 fashion spectrum in a too short, too tight black and white mini-dress with asymmetrical fabric draping hanging from the back. Outside of a strip-club setting, when more of your boobs are uncovered than covered, and you have little more than a weird flap of fabric covering your booty, you get a thumbs down. Even when you’re Fergie.
On The Fence of BET Awards 2010 Fashion
Nicki Minaj, winner of the 2010 Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award, gets a mark on each side of the fashion aisle for her Cinderella-goes-Crunk ensemble on the 2010 BET Awards red carpet. While the gown itself fit her well, though the full skirt were a bit much to balance with such a tiny torso. The under-arm straps of the dress tried too hard to be romantic and unique and just looked odd; the necklace was ridiculous and evoked a child playing dress-up with Grandma’s costume jewelry.
Still, Nicki Minaj manages to take a daring combination of flaming-orange hair, bubble-gum pink lipstick and what looks like a second-hand bridal gown, put it together and make it work in that photo. Sort of.
