This summer, many of the new TV series shows premiering have something indeed for everyone. From teens to adults, this 2010 summer TV series extravaganza promises to be interesting, thrilling, funny and well, sometimes shocking. Here are some picks from my growing list of favorite shows.
The Glades. Meet Jim, played by Matt Passmore. He is a Chicago detective that has relocated to work for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Well, now, he thought the Floridian crime pace would be much slower and duller than Chicago. Turns out he was wrong. The cases may not be as many but, they are even stranger than anything he has seen in the big windy city. This show is filmed in Pembroke Florida. It has murder, humor, mystery and crazy fun plots. I love it. It is a refreshingly different police drama show that ends up in every episode seeming like a mini movie. It is that good. Kiele Sanchez, Carlos Gomez, Michelle Hurd, Jordan Wall and Uriah Shelton make up the cast, among others. The cast is fantastic and makes this show wonderful entertainment. I applaud A&E for airing this fun crime drama series. Never a dull moment. It airs on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. so, don’t miss it. I won’t. It rocks! Look out for surfer girls and dead bodies.
Pretty Little Liars. From the first moment of this show, you get creeped out. Totally. The theme song “Secrets” played by a band known as The Pierces really gets your attention. You just have to hear the theme song to know what I mean. This show centers on four teenage girls that have lost the queen bee of their social click. The queen bee known as Alison, has been murdered. She was known to be quite vicious. Unfortunately, Alison knew all the remaining four girls deep dark secrets. One year after Alison’s death, the girls start getting weird text and phone messages threatening to blow their secrets into the wind. For all to hear. The messages are always signed “A” and since Alison is dead, the girls can only speculate that her murderer, whom they may already know, is doing the threatening. Or someone else. Who knows?
This teen drama is actually quite good and chilling. It has it’s funny moments, too. The music in the show is very cool and intriguing. The cast consists of Spencer, played by Troian Bellisario, Hanna, played by Ashley Benson, Aria, played by Lucy Hale, Emily, played by Shay Mitchell and Ian Harding, who plays Ezra, among other cast members. The cast really drew me in to this series and hooked me. Between the romance, the bisexual issues that faces some teens, the murders, the mystery, this show keeps me guessing and it is right on target for today’s teenage issues. Many of them, anyway. This creative TV show airs on the ABC Family channel at 8 p.m. on Tuesday nights. It is worth checking out! This show is based on novels by Sara Sheppard.
Mary Knows Best. Mary Occhino is a well known psychic. She has a very popular Sirius satellite radio show called “Angels On Call” and it has set records for the outstanding numbers of calls to a radio show. Mary is also an author, a speaker and a mother. I am delighted that the SciFi channel brought Mary to TV. Her show is fun, scary, interesting and eye opening. It is not only a show about Mary’s incredible psychic abilities, it is also a reality TV type of show. It features Mary and her family. Mary has two sons, Carl and Christopher Corry, a daughter, Jaqueline Sullivan, and Mary has a brother, Charles Saliba. All are featured on the show and the wide range of personalities really stand out. Her daughter sings like an angel and works hard as a manager at a restaurant. Mary’s sons have very different personalities, intense and startling. One is pretty laid back and one wants to be a motivational radio speaker. He is so intense, passionate and a bit well, you decide. Watching him makes me want to calm him down. The uncle or Mary’s brother is a musician, fun loving and inspiring. Conflicts and love abound.
Mary cannot go anywhere without using her psychic gift to help others. I really admire that about her, though it does embarrass her daughter, sometimes. The entire family is a reality show one of a kind experience and worth taking a peak at. I was hooked and I will be watching. Bless you, Mary. Mary Knows Best airs on the SciFi channel Thursday nights at 9 p.m. Some episodes move me to tears, some make me laugh and some, well, I just learn, along with Mary, what it takes to keep a family together and happy. It ain’t easy but, the love is worth it. And no, psychics don’t know everything. Mary knows. She is a winner.
Make It Or Break It. This fun 2010 summer TV series is different. It centers on teen gymnasts that are striving for the 2012 Olympics and to just be better than they could have ever thought possible. They train at the Rocky Mountain Gymnastic Training Center, also known as “The Rock.” There is drama, there is competition, there is humor and there are tears. The cast makes my jaw drop with Olympic style gymnastics that are thrilling, daring and brilliant. If you are a gymnastics fan, you will like this TV series. The cast includes Chelsea Hobbs as Emily, Ayal Kell as Payson, Josie Loren as Kaylie, Cassie Scerboes as Lauren, Susan Ward as Chloe and Damon Young as Johnny. More cast members include Candace Cameron Bure, Rosa Blasi And Peri Gilpin, among others.
This show shows the true meaning of giving it your all. It also has important life lessons, fun, comedy, drama and thrilling moments. This show airs on the ABC Family channel at 9 p.m. on Tuesday nights. I love this show and it is a joy to watch. The cast is wonderfully picked and all are very talented. Don’t miss this good family TV series. It is a winner.
These are some of my favorite summer TV series shows in 2010. They are entertaining and always capture my interest. That is worth paying my cable bill for. Be sure and check these out. You will be glad that you did.
