Southwest Missouri has been known to host several fantastic youth soccer tournaments during the warm weather months. With World Cup fever spreading across the USA this summer many teams will be watching to see if Landon Donovan and company can take Sam’s Army far into the knockout stage of the greatest sporting event in the world.
Springfield has many great sports bars and restaurants that will be hosting specials and watch parties throughout the World Cup from June 11th until the next four weeks. Here are some of the hotspots to check out if you are a soccer fan in southwest Missouri.
Coyote’s Adobe Café
Lake Country Soccer is sponsoring watch parties to be held at The Clubhouse in Coyote’s Adobe Café on Glenstone and Sunshine for every match in which the United States plays. The first party is on June 12th when Team USA takes on England in a colonial showdown at 1:30 PM CDT.
For more information, feel free to call (417) 889-7120. Coyote’s has wonderful fajitas and other great food on the kids menu if you want to bring the children. They also serve alcohol so if you don’t want your kids around beer and such you might take that into consideration.
Fox and ound
Fox and Hound English Pub and Grille is located by the south side Wal Mart Supercenter on Glenstone and Independence Avenue. They are claiming to be the best place to watch the World Cup in town and you can schedule your party of ten or more to get in on any match you wish. With all of their huge televisions and great food, Fox and Hound is an ideal location to watch any sporting event but especially the World Cup.
With great beers on tap and burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers there are a ton of food items for your party. The events coordinator is Gabby Bodenhausen and she can help you plan your soccer fest in Springfield by calling (417) 890-6289.
Rivals Casual Grille
For a restaurant more family friendly with no smoking and no alcohol, Rivals Casual Grille is your best bet for World Cup soccer fans. There is food here for everyone including burgers, fries, and pizza. There is a game room and many large televisions in a wide open space so you and your entire family can enjoy a summer outing while watching the best soccer in the world.
Rivals has hosted many sports events in the past such as the Mizzou Tigers Basketball Caravan that stopped by in May so this restaurant is an ideal location on south Glenstone next to the old Circuit City building. Rivals Casual Grille opens at 11 A.M. so some matches may be out of reach. However, there is a private party room that may of assistance if you are planning a private watch party with friends and family or a soccer team. Call (417) 877-7995 for availability.
