Weston, Florida has some really fine restaurants of all stripes. There are quite a few great places to dine, but here are my top three choices for an evening of fine food with great surroundings. Any one of these would make for a lovely, romantic evening.
1. Irelands’ Steakhouse. 250 Racquet Club Road, Weston, Fl. 33326 954 616-1234. www.bonaventure.hyatt.com This restaurant, located in a Hyatt Hotel, is my absolute number one choice for a fine meal in Weston. Walk through the gorgeous lobby of the hotel around the back and you will find Ireland’s. You will pass by the waterfall and outdoor bar where the mojitos may just be the best in South Florida (made with the freshest crushed mint leaves). Once inside the restaurant, you will immediately note the beautifully set tables and crisp white linens. There is also a Manhattan-style sophisticated bar inside the restaurant. This is a restaurant that takes fine dining seriously. There are a variety of menu options from meats to seafood. All are fresh and top shelf. But it’s the steak that you want to be coming here for. That’s their specialty and you won’t be disappointed. For starters, you might want to try the foie gras and have a salad comprised of a wedge of iceberg lettuce with chunks of bleu cheese and bleu cheese dressing. This restaurant is pricey but worth it. Truly a special occasion place.
2. East City Grill. 1800 Bell Tower Lane, Weston Town Center, Weston Fl. 33326 954 659-3339 www.eastcitygrill.com I recommend the seafood here. The restaurant’s website boasts that they are members of the “Fresh From Florida” association, which means that they feature locally caught fresh fish and locally grown produce. The crab-crusted grouper topped with shrimp: $34.95 is a must-try. A great bargain is the one -and- a- half pound lobster with corn on the cob for $24.95. If you are not into seafood, the steaks are great, too. A member of our party ordered a steak with the bone in and it was one of the largest steaks I’ve ever seen! The restaurant is attractive both indoors and out with a “mod” looking, sophisticated decor.
3. Aquilona. 2320 Weston Road, Weston, Fl 33326 954 389-1880 www.acquolinaweston.com . If it’s upscale Italian that you’re interested in, then consider dining at Aquilona. This is a white tablecloth venue with a trendy indoor area and waterfront dining on a man-made lake. Aquilona has its own following and you’re likely to see regulars here. Order one of its Italian specialties or steak or seafood. Half portions are available or you can order a larger “family style” portion. A side of pasta is extra, costing $6.95. Everything is a la carte, so your meal may end up being quite pricey. Finding the restaurant may be tricky. It is “hidden” in a strip mall. Worth going to for its fine dining and atmosphere.
