One of the popular pastimes for visitors to Malaysia is golfing. Malaysia has some of the best world-class golf courses in south east Asia designed by pro-golfers, and is becoming a popular destination for golf fanatics. If you enjoy a round of golf while on your vacation, taking a holiday in Malaysia could be for you, particularly if you visit one (or more) of these best golf courses.
The Royal Selangor Golf Club – Offering one of the best views in Malaysia, from the course at The Royal Selangor Golf Club you can see the world-famous Petronas Towers. Established in 1983, the club has more than 6,000 members including international royalty, foreign diplomats and business leaders from around the world. There are two 18-hole golf courses and one 9-hole course. The club has an excellent driving range and a junior golf program for children. The Royal Selangor Golf Club even has tennis, swimming, squash, billiards and a gym, if you don’t just want to play golf. Visitors are welcome. For more information call 603 9206 3333.
Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club – Located in Kuala Lumpur, in the suburb of Damansara, the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club is another of the best golf clubs in Malaysia. The club has two golf courses, the East and the West courses. Both courses offer different terrains and hole types, with the newly built East Course also a sanctuary for various species of birds and wildlife. There’s a driving range with competitive fees, a restaurant, business center, yoga, pilates, line dancing, karaoke and a pro shop. The Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club is a bit more relaxed than some other area clubs and is extremely welcoming to visitors. Easy to get to on several main roads, contact them at 603 2093 1111.
The Golf Club, Datai Bay – In Langkawi, this gorgeous golf club is set in between the mountains and the ocean, so no wonder it was voted the Most Scenic Golf Club in Malaysia. The Golf Club, Datai Bay has a 5994 meter Par 72 golf course, a 9 hole putting course, a driving range, tennis courts, restaurant, pro shop and all surrounded by 1,000 year old forest land. The Langkawi Masters tournament is played here as well as the Langkawi 54-hole Endurance Golf contest. Call 604 959 2700.
Ayer Keroh Country Club – The Ayer Kerok Country Club’s golf course is one of the best in Malaysia for its incredible design and location. Located in Malacca, a couple of hours from KL, this golf club consists of three 9 hole golf courses and was created by cutting into the Malaysian jungle yet still leaving the amazing wildlife living here (monkeys, squirrels, monitor lizards, various birds) completely intact. Each course also butts up onto the lake but, surrounded by jungle, is one of the most difficult courses to master as, just a slight way off the course and your ball is lost permanently. The club has a driving range, swimming pool, billiards facilities, tennis courts, a restaurant and a sauna. Contact them at 606 233 2000.
