Increase income – check, pay the bills – check, buy groceries -check, savings deposit- oops. Oops? There shouldn’t be an oops when it comes to saving money. You should be able to save at least a minimal amount each month. Reducing bills is something that requires skill; there are some things that can be done to become great at decreasing the amount that you pay in bills each month.
While it might seem to be a bit obsessive you have to budget everything. The amount of money that you make has to be noted on the budget that you’re creating for yourself. This is to make sure that the income is more than the bills. This will also show you those areas where you can immediately cut down on your expenses. The amount you put into savings, food, clothing, the light bill and other things will all be in this very detailed budget you have set for yourself.
While you probably budgeted in some money to spend during the week on things that you want there is no reason to spend every dime. Keeping a small notebook with you to jot down what you spend will help you to realize where your money goes. After a while you’ll realize that you don’t have to spend as much as you are. The temptation to spend everything you have on you will be reduced if you don’t take as much money with you.
Reduce Electricity Usage
The electric bill is the first thing that you can reduce with little effort. Things like turning off the lights and television sets when you go to bed at night will reduce this bill for you. Laundry can be done in cold water and hung out to dry; it doesn’t take that long and you can do other things while it’s drying. Cleaning the house without the aid of the television set will save you money and keep you more focused.
The phone has become a necessity in recent years but it’s being over used. Taking a look at how much your phone really costs you will show you just how to cut down on this expense. Realizing that you use the phone at work more than the one at home is the first step. (Does not apply to those that work at home.) Investigating other options that could costs you less or figuring out ways to do without a phone all together will help you to become better at reducing bills.
No matter what bills you have each month you can become incredible at reducing them. Paying attention is the most important step. Keeping track of your expenses, shopping with lists and taking the time to investigate alternatives to the mall will go a long way in reducing expenses. There are going to be somethings that you have been programmed to believe that you need but can easily live without. The hardest part of becoming great at reducing your bills is figuring out which things these are.
