A BeautiControl distributor gave me samples of four of their products, which claim to give the face an instant lift. Step two is the BeautiControl BC Spa Resurface Microderm Abrasion Cream for the face. I have never had a professional microderm abrasion process done on my face, but I have used a lot of exfoliating creams to remove the dead skin and make my face look fresh and renewed.
This cream comes in a small container, and consists of a medium thick white cream filled with tiny gritty particles. The company says that this product will remove the dead skin cells, revealing more vibrant skin below their surface.
BC Spa Resurface Microderm Abrasion Cream contains aluminum oxide crystals, which the company touts are the same ingredients used in the professional treatments that cost a lot of money. The theory is that by removing the dead skin cells on the face, this will help to increase the turnover rate of the skin’s cells, which in turn will “dramatically increase skin firmness while reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration”.
This cream should only be used one time per week, in the evening after the skin has been cleansed and toned. The instructions say to massage the cream into the skin for 1-3 minutes, then rinse it off and pat the skin dry. This process should be followed up by using a good night cream.
As I stated earlier, I have used numerous exfoliating creams on my somewhat sensitive face, but none of those experiences were as uncomfortable as using the BC Spa Resurface Microderm Abrasion Cream. When I rubbed this cream between my hands, it didn’t feel too bad, I could definitely feel the gritty texture of the cream. However, when I rubbed it into my face, it felt like I was rubbing shards of glass into my skin! It truly was not at all a good feeling, and although it did leave my skin feeling incredibly soft, it also felt irritated.
There are a few things that I like about the cream, namely that it has very little odor, because I am sensitive to strong scents and find many face creams too strong to tolerate. My face has a few age or melasma spots, and I have fine lines as well. After using the BC Spa Resurface Microderm Abrasion Cream I did not see any reduction in my darkened spots, nor did I see any difference in my fine lines.
The jar of cream contains only 2.5 ounces, which is enough product to provide 10-15 treatments. Since it retails for $55.00, I did not find enough of a difference in my face to justify spending that amount of money. I am sure that with repeated use this product will indeed exfoliate the skin to make the face look younger, and I recommend women give it a try, if you can find the samples. But my face is too sensitive to the rough texture of the cream, and I prefer to use a cream that is not quite so abrasive.
