Block parties don’t always have to be geared towards the likes of the adults living on the block. A beach block party planned with entertaining activities for kids is fun for young and old alike. Plan a party for your block and take the kids on a trip to the beach without leaving your neighborhood.
Make Some Waves
Coordinate the beach block party with the neighbors on the block and have everyone set up some type of water activity for the kids and map out an obstacle course. Have neighbors turn on lawn sprinkling systems during the beach block party, set up Slip’N Slides and fill up children’s wading pools at various locations along the block and organize the obstacle course. Kids can race through the water drenched obstacle course and win prizes while adults supervise and cheer the kids on.
Water Balloon Toss And Water Gun Battle
The kids (and probably some adults) will be soaking wet at the end of the water obstacle course adventure, so the timing is perfect for a water balloon toss and water gun battle.
Coordinate with neighbors to help fill up water balloons and ready them for a tossing competition and the water gun battle can be fought and won by your own designated rules. Small prizes can be awarded to the winners of each game.
Sand Castle Building Competition
To fully engage the senses in a beach block party, sand has to involved. Kiddie pools can be filled with sand or the sand can be trucked in and dumped in the street to be used for a sand castle building competition. If an empty lot is available on your block, sand can be dumped there for use in the sand castle building competition, then afterwards the sand can be spread out and a volley ball net set in place for a volley ball competition.
Bring out the sand pails and shovels and set up the sand castle building competition according to age groups. Have cameras and prizes ready, there’s sure to be some amazing sand creations designed and built.
Simple Beach Food
Keep the beach food simple. Sandwiches and cold pasta salads, fresh citrus fruits and ice cold drinks keep with the beach theme and keep everyone engaged in the beach themed activities.
Have food set up in a location away from the water and sand activities. Use large beach towels to cover picnic tables and have neighbors bring their beach chairs and umbrellas to set up for relaxing during the beach block party.
All the summer fun of the beach can come to your neighborhood for a day of kid-friendly fun by organizing a beach block party for kids with these ideas.
