Baxter YMCA is the place for kids of all ages. Fall registration is beginning now and anyone who lives nearby should get the kids enrolled now. Baxter has no contracts and payments can be made on monthly or annual basis. All membership rates are based on a sliding scale, so that it is affordable for most families. The fees are based on a family’s annual income in order to allow more families to take advantage of all the Baxter YMCA has to offer. The YMCA organization believes that no one should be excluded due to the inability to pay for their programs.
Preschoolers as young as 2 can take advantage of the gym classes that are offered. There are swim lessons, gymnastics, crafts, and many other activities available for these children. Classes are offered both morning and afternoon and are available up to 5 days per week. The classes are either 2 1/2 hours or 4 hours long for preschoolers. There are computers in each classroom, so children will have access to computer games and activities.
Baxter YMCA also offers a huge aquatics program. The YMCA has been teaching swimming for over 100 years and all instructors are YMCA certified. Classes are offered year round and are offered morning, evening, and weekends in order for anyone to have a chance to participate in these lessons.
Sports are a huge opportunity for children to learn rules, responsibilities, sharing, sportsmanship, etc. and Baxter YMCA has plenty of sports available for children to participate in. Volleyball, martial arts, racquetball, gymnastics, golf, flag football, basketball, and even offers a Frisbee league now.
As with many other programs these days, there is before and after school care available at the YMCA also. The YMCA instructors encourage lifelong positive values and help children expand their imaginations. The mission of the YMCA is to promote Christian principles through programs that enhance personal growth. The YMCA is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that was started in London, England in 1844 and was built on the foundation of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities and this is the same foundation that they work on today. They believe in 4 strong values that they attempt to teach all children- caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
