Do you absolutely adore everything about the Batman universe? You might be thinking, “I really want a Batman costume, but all the good ones are already taken.” Just not true! Yes, you will find a lot of Batmans, Robins, Jokers, Batgirls, and Catwomans, but you can still have a Batman related costume that is original.
For some reason, no one ever seems to want to be Posion Ivy. It could be because of how hard it is to pair her up with other costumes, or because the one Batman movie she was in was horrible. Either way, it makes a Poison Ivy costume an original choice for many Batman fans, and let’s face it – she’s still cooler than Catwoman.
Scarecrow is a truly scary Batman villain, which makes him perfect as a Halloween costume. However, this is one costume where the mask is the most important part – a bad Scarecrow mask makes you look like a joke, and making people laugh is kind of the Joker’s thing. Scarecrow wants to leave people shaking in their boots.
Harley Quinn is one of the most popular Batman themed costumes, and always sells out early – but she’s also the one character that only casual Batman fans have to ask who she is! Harley Quinn is a great costume to have, especially if you know someone who’s going to be the Joker, or even if you don’t. The fact she hasn’t been in a movie yet makes this popular Animated Series/Comic book character wonderfully original.
I admit, this one is a bit of a stretch, but it could be pulled off. Mad Hatter is based on the Alice in Wonderland character, and as such that’s technically the costume you have to use. However, with some ingeniuty, you can make sure that no one mixes you up with the beloved childhood character. With a mind control device and a creepy, murderous attitude, you can make sure people know you’re from Batman’s Rogue Gallery.
While there is a costume for Two-Face, the mask is kind of bad. Luckily, it’s fixable. If you’re willing to put in a little more effort, go to a costume store and pick up some really horrific looking make-up. Then, you can conform half of your face to make it look like it was burned off. Or, you could even just make one.
Be the Hit of the Party
With these costumes, you can still show your dedication to the Batman fandom without having to be the same characters everyone else already is. These costumes are just the tip of the iceberg. With a ventriloquist dummy, you can be Scarface and the Ventriloquist! A pillow, a sloppy suit, a gun, and a donut, you’re Detective Harvey Bullock! The possibilites are endless when it comes to thinking of an original Batman themed costume.
