It’s the morning after the premiere of ABC’s Bachelor Pad and the glaring light of daylight is upon us. Now it’s time to do the walk of shame.
While ABC’s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette come off as glossy and over the top with romantic dates in locations like St. Lucia and Tahiti, Bachelor Pad get downright raunchy with a unisex backyard Twister game, complete with revealing camera angles.
Pass the mimosas and the bronzer please, it’s gonna be a sleezy summer indeed!
So what kind of show is Bachelor Pad? Think of it as part Big Brother, part Jersey Shore with a teeny tiny bit of The Bachelor mixed in (they do have a rose ceremony, after all).
But is it love what these contestants are after? Clearly not. For a bunch of people who went on their original seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette supposedly to find “the one”, these cats seem all about the cash– $250K to be exact.
If they get a high school hookup along the way, fine and dandy, but this show is about money, not love. And speaking of high school hookups, what was up with the now-blonde Elizabeth Kitt basically telling Jesse Kovacs to be her boyfriend or else. It’s gonna be a real long summer for this guy.
Most of the cast of Bachelor Pad are from the most recent seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and the cliques and alliances have already formed. The new old faces- Gwen and Krisily- may be at a disadvantage, but it looks like there will be plenty of opportunities for them to whore themselves out – I mean campaign- for votes.
A lot of attention was paid to contestant Gwen Gioia’s age last night. One of the Jesses referred to her as a motherly type. Host Chris Harrison posted on his EW blog that Gioia asked the producers not to post her age on the show. Not sure why. Her age- 39- is posted on her Bachelor Pad bio. You can see a great shot of Gwen here.
Harrison also blogged, “We’ve always wanted to do an all-star edition of our show, but didn’t want to taint the franchise. Bachelor Pad is the perfect solution.”
Um, did Harrison watch last night’s how? The franchise has been tainted. Or at least severely infected.
Even so, I’ll continue to watch Bachelor Pad. I just don’t know if I’ll respect myself in the morning.
You can catch the next episode of Bachelor Pad on Monday, August 16th at 8:00 PM ET/PT on ABC.
