Last year I ordered a tinted moisturizer from the Lancome website, and paid $45 for a tube of Bienfait Multi Vital Tinted Moisturizer. I loved that it contained a sunscreen with a SPF of 30, because I have melasma and need to stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen every day. However, it was darker than I needed and I had to cut it with a day cream to make it work.
A few weeks ago I received an email offer from my Avon lady, and Avon was having a fantastic sale on their Ideal Shade Tinted Moisturizer for only $7.99. Even the normal retail price of $10.00 is very affordable. It has a sunscreen of only 15, so I was compromising a bit there, but my daily face cream contains a SPF of 30, so the added SPF was not really needed in my tinted moisturizer.
Avon Ideal Shade Tinted Moisturizer comes in a small 1 ounce tube, with a screw off cap. The spout is pointed and allows me to squeeze out a little or a lot of product. This comes in six different shades: Fair, Light, Light Medium, Medium, Deep and Dark. It took me three trys to get the correct shade for my face, which really surprised me since I am a blue eyed blonde and have fair colored skin. The Light Medium shade was a perfect match for my skin! The Fair and Light were not dark enough and almost looked like they had a grey colored tinge against my face.
Avon Ideal Shade Tinted Moisturizer is a new Avon product, and it claims to nourish the skin with antioxidants and vitamins to leave it looking fresh and radiant. Avon also claims that the skin feels “soft and hydrated all day”. It promises “sheer coverage … a soft dewy kiss of color”.
Avon also makes Ideal Shade Concealer Stick and Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation in matching colors, which really comes in handy if you have a lot of imperfections, acne, age spots, or in my case melasma (a hormonal condition that causes dark spots to form on the face).
Now that I have used my Avon Ideal Shade Tinted Moisturizer for a few weeks, I can tell you I absolutely love it! It does cover up imperfections quite well, yet remains a light cover up that still gives me the natural look without looking all made up. I do not wear a lot of make up, and my friends have been complimenting me on how great my skin looks, asking me if I have been out in the sun!
Avon Ideal Shade Tinted Moisturizer has a very creamy consistency and it blends well into the skin, and there are no streak marks like I get with foundation. It absorbs perfectly, like a moisturizer would. A few days ago I burned my head at the hairline while using my curling iron, and this left a red spot about 1/2″ long, but the Avon Ideal Shade Tinted Moisturizer did a pretty good job of covering the red area.
I won’t say that this product covers all of my melasma spots, but it works just as well as the $45 Lancome product I was using last year. I feel that the price of $7.99 is an exceptional value, and I will be purchasing this product again and again, as long as Avon continues to make it.
