There is something different about writers. Well, there is something different about each of us, but writers fit into a wonderful category of folks who like to share. We do more than just share our opinions and our passions, however. Even the most technical amongst us share our lives.
I was a writer long before I joined Associated Content. I don’t think there was much time between the first time I picked up a pen, and the purging of emotion through the written word. Gifts usually consist of a personal poem or a special story, and even cementing the driveway required a permanent note from me. When a friend recommended I write for a website instead of just for myself, I jumped at the chance.
I didn’t know what to expect. I am technologically challenged, and with all the possible writing style to choose from, I had no clue if my non-conformist style would be appropriate for this realm of professional writers. I threw my hat in anyway, with the knowledge that if what I had written so far had touched so many strangers, then I was destined to do more with my ability. Maybe Associated Content was the exact resource I required to get my messages out to the public.
Little did I realize AC was less of a tool and more of a lifestyle. As I writer, I feel inclined to share my every little opinion and every minute happening with the world. As a psycho, I do so inconsistently. Yet, on the days when I hesitate to “speak” I feel the loss of my “voice”. So I have found myself returning to AC to read if not to write.
Within the folds of this writing forum, I have found treasures I did not expect. Whereas artists in other mediums may tend to be more critical through jealous twinges, writers seem to have the exact opposite problem. Though it certainly is gratifying to hear complements, I cannot help but wonder at the abundance of positive and the near absence of negative feedback. I find it hard to believe that my work is really that good.
I think this un-balance has more to do with the sensitivity of writers than with the quality of my writing. Perhaps it is because we understand that these are more than just characters on the scene, but whispers directly from the soul, no matter what the topic. We feel blessed to be able to hold the spirit of another gently in our grasp for those few moments, before we release it back into the world of cyber-space. Perhaps this is why AC does so much more than provide me forum for release and complements.
Through Associated Content, I have been encouraged not only to write more, but to live more. As I share with you, I also receive. I have met individuals who are constant inspiration, not only in their written work, but in the way they live their lives, and I look forward to my near daily interaction with them. So thank you. Thank you AC for providing this program, but mostly for gathering this amazing group of people. And thank you AC writers. Thank you for your sharing, your encouragement, and mostly for inspiring me each and every day.
