Being slightly behind the curve by dint of age (I tell myself), I only found out by text (not tweet) at 4:40 p.m. EST. The dude who ratted out Michael Vick for dog-fighting was shot at his birthday party (ALLEGEDLY).
Could this be true? Is he dead? What was his name again? What was he actually doing at Vick’s BIRTHDAY PARTY? These were all questions from my twelve-year-old daughter, who also alleged that Vick (the “most disliked athlete” in America, per a survey publised [sic] in Forbes, per Philly.com) maintains an apartment near our local Kohl’s. Could any of this be true?
Wow…this ranks right up there with Lady Gaga getting semi-naked with A-Roid in the Yankees’ locker room (take that, Madonna)…except, of course, that somebody may have actually been hit by a bullet.
OK, so they missed an “-h-“: Vick’s lawyer says that Vick was neither present nor involved…um…at his own party in Virginia Beach when the shooting occurred. That’s as per Philly.com again, as per the Associated Press. And while the name of Vick’s lawyer was given in the account derived from the AP (in which it was likely also given), it will not be given here because the dude makes enough money…OK?
Per some newspaper in VA-Beach (I think – the Daily Press), the guy shot was one of Vick’s co-defendants in 2007, Quanis Phillips, who was admitted to a local hospital with likely-non-lethal problems…per a police spokesman, per the AP, per Philly.com. Or not. The guy admitted was apparently Phillips, but it remained unclear whether or not he was the guy actually shot. A “confrontation” ended up being what is usually called “out of hand” outside a club with a sign out front that reads “Guadalahara.” This is surely related to Virginia’s rich tradition of Mexican culture.
There’s a lotta “per’s” going on here, none of which explain what the hell Phillips would have been doing at MV’s 30-BD, as it would be put in Tweetville…but what-ever…maybe those dog-fight-dudes stick together even after federal time.
Comments behind the foggy story are:
“This club is on his property, but he had nothing to do w/ it. hehehe[.]”
“hopefully he is suspended for 6 games for violating his federal parole and NFL probation[.]”
And finally, “I’d love to see a dog bite his n*ts off. Still hanging with his old crew it looks like. What a worthless POS[.]”
Time: 6:18 p.m. … clearly what counts.
