Documents were filed in the missing Kyron Horman case Monday alleging that Terri Moulton Horman, the boy’s stepmother, had violated an emergency restraining order by attempting to “abduct” her 20-month-old daughter from a gym day care. According to ABC News, the documents not only accused Terri Moulton Horman of trying to kidnap the little girl, her biological daughter, but also alleged that she was having an affair with a friend of Kaine Horman’s, her husband and father of Kyron, while the rest of the family was concentrated on finding the missing 7-year-old.
The affair allegedly began two days after the abduction attempt, according to the court papers. Kaine Horman left the home he shared with Terri Moulton Horman on Saturday, June 26, following the revelation of a purported murder-for-hire plot against him engineered by his wife. He took his daughter, Kiara, with him and filed for divorce and a restraining order, citing information that he had gotten from Multnomah County authorities, that he believed his wife was somehow involved in the disappearance of his son. That same day his wife allegedly attempted to take the daughter from a day care gym.
While Kaine Horman and his ex-wife Desiree Young were making appearances on national televised morning and talk shows, Terri Moulton Horman began an affair with Kaine’s classmate, 37-year-old Michael Cook, who had helped organize the first candlelight vigil for missing Kyron.
According to the court documents, investigators “obtained hundreds of text messages, as well as several photographs of respondent [Terri], in various stages of undress and graphic sexual activity.”
Cook admitted to a local television station that he had had “inappropriate contact” with Terri Moulton Horman but he denied having sex with her. He refused to answer any questions until he had consulted a lawyer.
The allegations are the latest developments in a case that began with the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman on June 4. Authorities say that Terri Moulton Horman said she left the second-grader at his elementary school after taking him to a science fair early that morning. After about 45 minutes, she waved good-bye to him and watched him walk toward his classroom before turning away and going home.
Kyron Horman never reported to his 9:00 a.m. class.
Terri Moulton Horman and Kaine Horman were at the school bus stop that afternoon when Kyron didn’t get off the bus. They contacted the school and found out that he had never reported for class. The authorities were immediately contacted and a search was initiated.
Nearly six weeks later, Kyron Horman remains missing. Although Terri Moulton Horman has been under intense scrutiny and Kaine Horman and Desiree Young have several times implored her to “fully cooperate” with authorities, Multnomah County investigators have yet to name her as a person of interest or suspect.
