I was given my first jar of Aquaphor Healing Treatment at the baby shower for my first child. Little did I know that this product would come to change my life! Over the years, I have learned of many uses for this wonder ointment that goes far beyond baby care. My one must-have, cannot-imagine-life-without product is Aquaphor!
First, we will start with the more traditional uses:
Prevent diaper rash: Apply a layer on baby’s clean, dry bottom prior to donning their fresh diaper to keep moisture away from their delicate skin.
Chapped skin from cold: Slather this on face prior to exposure to the cold weather elements; apply it to skin that has already been exposed as well
Dry skin on elbows, heels, hands and knees: Great before bed (especially when covered by gloves or socks) to treat those dry, scaly, rough patches
Lip softener: smooth over lips to treat and prevent chapping
Tames flyaway hairs on head or eyebrows: A quick fix before heading out the door for an unruly, stray hairs
Heal and protect new tattoos: Apply a thin layer on newly inked skin and cover
Skin burns from radiation or sunburn: Delicately apply and leave uncovered. *Patients undergoing radiation should always check with their doctor first*
Prevent chafing: Spread anywhere two body parts are rubbing together to decrease friction
Treat sore, cracked nipples from breastfeeding: A lifesaver from this painful side effect of nursing
Heals cuts and scrapes: Just a bit will help speed healing
Treat Eczema: Many people (myself included) swear by this treatment of this hard to cure condition
And some not so traditional uses:
Prevent stretch marks and help fade existing: Pick this stuff up BEFORE baby comes to prevent those unsightly badges of motherhood. It also helps to diminish marks that developed if you did not get to them in time.
Prevent and Treat rash around mouth from drool or use of pacifier: Smear the ointment around mouth (not in mouth, although it is not harmful) to rid your cute little one of that unsightly “ring around the mouth” they develop from their beloved pacifier or during episodes of flood-like drool associated with teething
Decrease itch associated with bug bites: Dab a bit on the bite to take away the urge to scratch
Helps to get gum out of hair: Generally coat the area involved and slowly comb the culprit out
Protects skin on forehead from changing color when dyeing you hair: Whether at home or at the salon, make sure you slather your hairline to prevent your skin from matching your newest shade of brown.
Helps tight rings to slide off puffy fingers: Simply smooth this on fingers to help stubborn rings slip right off.
Quick shoe shine: In a pinch, this can freshen up a dull pair of shoes. Spread a light coating on and buff off.
Removes water rings on wood tables: Dab this on the spot and buff to a shine with a soft cloth
Removes makeup stains on fabric: Apply this on stain and gently rub away with a clean cloth
