New Dishes at Applebee’s
I recently tried Applebee’s New Florentine Ravioli with Chicken tonight at dinner and was really happy with the entrée. The dish consisted of tender cheese filled half moon raviolis over a bed of cooked spinach, chopped mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, & chopped onions and some red pepper. This is all topped with a white sauce that tastes a lot like the alfredo sauce in their other pasta dishes. On top of the entire dish is Parmesan cheese and sliced grilled chicken. The entrée also comes with a breadstick.
The combination of the spinach, Alfredo sauce and ravioli was very tasty. The ingredients blended well with the chicken and the dish was also visually very appealing. There seemed to be a lot of vegetables in the entrée and I like veggies so I thought I was making a good choice.
Applebee’s has several new pasta dishes on their menu in addiition to the Florentine Ravioli. They include Provolone-Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccini and Spicy Shrimp Diavolo. The new pasta dishes at Applebee’s are all priced at just $9.99 and based on the dish I ordered the portions are very generous.
2 for $20 – A Good Value
A great value at Applebee’s is their 2 for $20 menu. This is a terrific deal where two people can order two entrees from the value menu and get an appetizer to share for only $20.00. The value menu includes the new Florentine Ravioli with Chicken and the Provolone-Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccini as options so this is a good way to try the new pasta dishes at Applebee’s. The other dishes included on the 2 for $20 menu are the Oriental Chicken Salad, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Three-Cheese Chicken Penne, Chicken Tenders Basket, 7 oz. Sirloin, and Riblet Basket.
The appetizers at Applebee’s are really good and the portions seem to be exactly the same on the value menu as you receive when ordering the appetizer separately. The Boneless Buffalo Wings are my favorite choice and it consists of a generous portion of wings available in classic, hot or barbeque sauce and come with plenty of celery, and your choice of ranch or blue cheese for dipping. Other appetizers include on the 2 for $20 menu include Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Mozzarella Sticks, Crunchy Onion Rings, or Spicy Queso Blanco.
High in Calories
Applebee’s new Florentine Ravioli with Chicken was really a filling entree. When I got home I looked up the calories on Applebee’s website and was surprised to see that the dish contains 1410 calories. Yikes! This is clearly not a dish for a dieter. I’m assuming the breadstick is not counted in the total as breadsticks are listed separately as containing 300 calories each. It didn’t seem like 300 calories and I only ate half of it, but I guess I ate my entire days worth of calories in one meal! The good news is that Applebee’s provides the calories in all of their dishes for consumers to review and I could have looked at this before ordering but I was distracted by a hearty appetite and the delicious looking pictures on the menu.
I actually did like the Florentine Ravioli With Chicken at Applebee’s and if calories aren’t a concern for you I would recommend this entrée. However, if you are looking for a healthy entrée, this one has far too many calories. I’m regretting having eaten this whole thing! Maybe if you have eaten very light all day long this would be a good choice as I really did enjoy it!
My overall score for Applebee’s Florentine Ravioli With Chicken is a yummy B+, I would have given it a higher score but it’s really way too fattening to fully enjoy.
