Interview Question: Anna Margaret, please tell us more about this August 20th concert.

Anna Margaret’s Response: It will be held at the Rapides Parish Coliseum on August 20th along with other artists that will be there to raise money to support the Supriya Jindal Foundation for Louisiana Children. This event is going to be huge and so much fun and I can’t wait to have a blast with all the kids.

Interview Question: What part of Louisiana are you from?

Anna Margaret’s Response: I am from the Alexandria/Lecompte area which is the central part of the state.

Interview Question: How has the oil spill affected the area of Louisiana where you live?

Anna Margaret’s Response:

We have people who work in the drilling industry in the Gulf from all over our state. I think people from outside the state don’t realize how this affects their families and the people around them. These people who are hard- working and struggling to make a living will have to now work even harder and struggle even more to feed their families.

Interview Question: How has the oil spill affected other people you might know?

Anna Margaret’s Response:

Well, when the oil was gushing, it was on the news every day, but now since it has been capped, we don’t hear about it as much, but this doesn’t help the people who are still suffering daily.

Interview Question: I understand that the governor’s wife started the Supriya Jindal Foundation for Louisiana’s Children. What can you tell us about this organization?

Anna Margaret’s Response: This organization is going to allow more kids to have a better and more fun education. It provides a different and interesting way of approaching the teaching and learning of the mathematics and sciences. I think it will make kids want to go school because they will know when they wake up in the morning that school is going to be fun today.

Interview Question: How did the governor’s wife, Supriya Jindal, get in contact with you in the first place?

Anna Margaret’s Response:

She didn’t contact me, I wanted to be involved in helping in some way the people affected by the spill. When we contacted her office, we were asking how we could help. This is when we decided her foundation would be a perfect way to help the kids who may not be able to follow the family business of sea farming.

Interview Question: I understand that you and the governor’s wife will be traveling to the Big Easy this weekend of August 12-14 to view the way New Orleans has been impacted by the recent oil spill. What else can you tell us about this trip?

Anna Margaret’s Response: We will be visiting different schools who have been impacted by the spill and we will be handing out school supplies. I can’t wait to actually meet and listen to the kids’ stories.

Interview Question: What made you decide to donate part of the proceeds of your upcoming single, “Heal Us All” to this charity?

Anna Margaret’s Response: When my mom and I wrote the song “Heal Us All” right after hurricane Katrina we felt like this song could really make a difference, but we weren’t in the same position as we are in now, meaning I was just getting started in the music business. Now since the oil spill has happened, we felt it was the perfect song to heal the people from all the tragedies that have occurred.

Interview Question: Do you write any of your songs? If so, which ones have you written?

Anna Margaret’s Response: The answer is I have co-written three or four songs that will be on my album.

Interview Question: I love the title of “Heal Us All.” What touches you most about this song?

Anna Margaret’s Response: That it can to relate to all people no matter what they are going through.

Interview Question: You are fourteen now. When did you first start getting featured by the Disney channel? How did that relationship first get started?

Anna Margaret’s Response: I was first featured on the Disney Channel when I was 13 when I was singing the theme song to one of Disney Channel’s original movies “Starstruck.” I got involved with Disney when my manager, Dalevertis Hurd, introduced me to Jon Lind and Bob Cavallo when I sang my song “Heal Us All.” Right then, they told me that they wanted to sign me to their record label, Hollywood Records.

Interview Question: Is this the first time you have gotten involved in helping charities or organizations such as Supriya Jindal Foundation for Louisiana’s Children? If not, what other community service activities have you been drawn to do?

Anna Margaret’s Response: It is not my first time being involved with charities and foundations. I started volunteering with the Down Syndrome Foundation when I was 13. I also got involved with the American Girl Fashion Show to benefit the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. I sang the National Anthem at the Revlon Walk for Women’s cancers.

Interview Question: Besides singing and acting, what other activities do you enjoy?

Anna Margaret’s Response: I love snowboarding, horseback riding, surfing, riding 4-wheelers and hanging out with my friends whenever I have free time.

Interview Question: What issues or causes really touch your heart?

Anna Margaret’s Response: Anything relating to children with disabilities or just children in general.

Interview Question: What final message would you like to share with people around the country and around the world?

Anna Margaret’s Response: That it is really important to help out people in need and to not take the things you have for granted because it can all be taken away from you in an instance.

Final comment from Interviewer: Thanks so much! I wish you every success in your career and in the upcoming concert. I am so pleased to do my part to help your cause.
