Rumor has it, Angelina Jolie wants to adopt a child from Haiti. Hollywood actress, Angelina Jolie and partner, actor Brad Pitt, already have six children. Three are natural children of both Angelina and Brad, four year old Shiloh Nouvel and almost-2-year-old twins, Knox Léon, and Vivienne Marcheline, The other three are adopted, Maddox Chivan adopted from an orphanage in Cambodia, Zahara Marley from Ethiopia, and Pax Thien from Vietnam. Now, since Angelina and Brad both worked with humanitarian agencies in Haiti after the recent earthquake, it looks like a Haitian child might soon be joining the ‘Brangelina’ family.
The London Daily Express newspaper is reporting Angelina Jolie, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, was in Haiti last week and, while there, expressed an interest in adopting a Haitian child. A source told the Daily Express, “She met officials and there has been a lot of talk that she is desperate to help the children. She is thinking of adopting one.”
Angelina Jolie and her brother grew up in a single parent family as her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, divorced their father, actor Jon Voigt and the children had very little to do with him from then on out. That’s probably one of the reasons Jolie loves to have such a big family; to create something she felt she never had growing up. Often, children from families like this do create larger families when they grow up, and tend to be good parents as they want to make up to their kids for what they themselves never had.
From every report, it’s always seemed Angelina Jolie is an amazing mother and Brad Pitt a great father. Much of their lives revolve around their kids, who go with them on almost every movie shoot, no matter where in the world it is. Recently, the whole family was in Paris and Venice, where Jolie and Pitt were often filmed out with the kids or playing with them on the hotel balcony.
If Jolie and Pitt decide to adopt a seventh child, a child from Haiti seems like a great choice. The earthquake earlier this year left so many children without parents and a country unable to get itself back on its feet. As Jolie and Pitt have a stable family life, other children and obviously love kids, a child from Haiti would be lucky to be adopted into a family like that.
While some critics say “enough already”, who are we to say “enough”. If a child without parents is adopted, well taken care of, fed healthy food, given a good education and advantages in life most children will never have, there really don’t seem to be any negatives. The negative opinions of others are only that – negative opinions about a situation or people they know nothing about.
Good for Angelina and Brad, who not only put their money where their mouth is (they donate millions of dollars a year to charities and to their own Jolie/Pitt Foundation), they also take responsibility for some of the children left orphaned. Which is more than most do.
