Down to the final four, American Idol Season 9 contestants are vying for a spot in the finale. Though many have written off this season as lackluster with little talent, the remaining contestants have done a decent job of impressing the judges as well as the viewing audience. Many indicators point to this being the last season of American Idol: Simon Cowell’s departure; low ratings; judges continuously sending mixed signals to the contestants; and the audience bored with theme weeks. Regardless if this is the last season or not, the remaining four contestants need to finish strong.
American Idol – Crystal Bowersox
Odds to win: even money
As has been stated many times, Crystal has been the odds on favorite for a good portion of this season of American Idol. Most of her performances have been strong, keeping her fan base happy and voting. Crystal is tied with Lee DeWzye in odds makers eyes, but hasn’t impressed the judges in the past few weeks as much as Lee, giving Lee the edge.
American Idol – Lee DeWyze
Odds to win: even money
It’s been my opinion for quite some time now that Lee DeWzye will win American Idol. To read my 5 Reasons Why Lee Dewyze Will Win American Idol, click here. Last week, when the contestants were performing Frank Sinatra tunes, Lee was the only one to make his rendition current and something that you could easily hear on the radio right now. To see Lee’s time with Harry Connick Jr. (last week’s mentor) and to view his performance, go here.
American Idol Top 10 – Casey James
Odds to win: 10 to 1
I thought Casey James was a goner a couple weeks ago, and according to odds makers he is in jeopardy of going home this week unless Crystal or Lee have a bad week. Casey’s performances of late are starting to be repetitive week after week. He needs to have a moment this week or it’s good-bye Casey.
American Idol – Michael Lynche
Odds to win: 15 to 1
Though Casey has better odds to win American Idol than Michael Lynche, I think Michael has the stronger chance of making it to the final three. Yes, I know he’s been in the bottom numerous times, but Michael is a much better performer. He’s completely comfortable on stage and connects well with the audience. His only trouble it seems right now is not getting enough people to vote for him. If Michael can turn in a memorable performance that wins over the judges as well as the audience, he should be around for another week.
American Idol airs on Tuesday nights at 8/7c. The American Idol results show airs on Wednesday nights at 9/8c.
