Will Steve Tyler “Walk This Way” on to the American Idol judges panel? That’s just one of the many rumors that are being reported regarding the status of the American Idol Season 10 judges.
Fans of FOX’s American Idol knew there would be changes when longtime judge Simon Cowell exited the show at the end of last season. But no one could have expected the shakeup that would follow.
According to People Magazine, Season 9 judge Ellen DeGeneres resigned from American Idol this week amidst reports that she was unhappy and uncomfortable working on the show. DeGeneres’ departure leaves two vacant spots open on the American Idol judge’s panel. If Idol producers decide to stick to the 4-judges format, that is.
But the bigger bombshell is the news that pop star Jennifer Lopez has signed on to the show. While FOX has declined to comment on the Lopez rumors, People is reporting that J-LO has indeed signed a deal to join the American Idol judge’s panel.
Jennifer Lopez would certainly bring a fresh viewpoint to the show. With her industry experience and good natured personality, I could see her being the new “Paula Abdul” of the show, offering kind , albeit constructive criticism.
Meanwhile, in another major scoop, Popeater reports that judge Kara DioGuardi has been fired from the show. Just as you pick up your jaw off the floor from that one, get this: DioGuardi may be replaced by Aerosmith front man Steve Tyler.
I’m starting to wonder if we are all being Punk’d. While names like Harry Connick Jr. and Elton John have been floating round as replacement judges for months now, these new names- and departures- are coming out of nowhere!
The American Idol Season 10 judge’s shakeup comes on the heels of the news that former executive producer Nigel Lythgoe may be coming back to American Idol . He said he wanted to make changes, and it sure sounds like some major changes are being made!
Until FOX makes an official announcement regarding the American Idol Season 10 judges, I’ll take all of these stories with a grain of salt.
But with all this alleged moving and shaking going on, host Ryan Seacrest should be quaking in his boots!
