After a fun opening performance by Rascal Flatts and a ‘Twilight’ themed music video teaser, the American Idol results show on April 28 got down to serious business. If you missed the elimination episode tonight and are wondering who got kicked off American Idol Season 9 this week, wonder no more. QuirkySiobhan Magnus was voted off American Idol tonight after a whopping 33 million votes were cast and counted following the Tuesday performance show.
Before we found Siobhan Magnus was the unlucky contestant who got voted off American Idol on the American Idol Results show April 28, fans were treated to a ‘Twilight’ inspired version of The Bravery’s “Believe”. The American Idol cover of “Believe” transformed the remaining Idol hopefuls into vampy music video stars (and official Ford sponsors) before the elimination round sucked the life out of yet another contestant.
The Top 6 were called to line up on the American Idol stage, one at a time, as Ryan Seacrest recapped the singers’ performances and judge’s reactions from Tuesday’s show. Fan fave Crystal Bowersox got rousing applause when she stood for her recap, and Ellen told the young singer she doubted America would place her in the Bottom 3 or have her kicked off American Idol solely based on the previous night’s performance, even though the judges weren’t thrilled with it.
Sure enough, Crystal Bowersox was indeed safe from elimination during the American Idol results show April 28, automatically advancing her to the Top 5. Michael Lynche, Casey James and Siobhan Magnus were announced to be in the Bottom 3 before it was eventually revealed it was quirky, adorable Siobhan who would be eliminated from American Idol 9 altogether. Performances by Sons of Sylvia, Lady Antebellum, and a Shakira/Rascall Flatts set preceded the final results, as American Idol stuffed as much filler down viewers’ throats as anybody could stand while simply waiting for a name to be read.
Siobhan Magnus’ final performance following her elimination was full of gusto and greatness, and she didn’t show any sadness or remorse. Siobhan definately hit all the right notes with her mom, who whispered in her daughter’s ear, “You’re still our star.” As for judge Randy Jackson, his advice to Siobhan Magnus was simple: “Keep being yourself. I think you have an amzing career in front of you!”
Bonus info: Before revealing it was Siobhan Magnus who got kicked off American Idol on the April 28 results show, Ryan Seacrest did reveal that song legend Harry Conick Jr. is going to be involved in the training for next week’s American Idol 9 performance show, which will feature a “Songs of Sinatra” theme.
