There is a month left of American Idol, Season Nine, as the contestants really get to work and down to business. Idols are always in the news, so, you may have heard the latest about Adam Lambert. Much speculation has been made over who will take over seat number four of the judge’s panel, occupied by one Simon Cowell, honest judge extraordinaire.
Any ideas, here? Would Shania Twain be up for the gig? I’ll tell you someone who isn’t interested: Adam Lambert. The rumor mill started turning and churning recently, putting out there in entertainment land that Adam was targeted to take over the coveted seat Judge Simon will be vacating. Lambert did such an excellent job during his stint as mentor on American Idol that the word has gotten out he would be the logical choice to replace Cowell. Indeed, he was one of the best mentors the show has ever had. His honest critiques and positive encouragement made an impact on the finalists and the show.
The LA Times reports Adam as saying, “Unfortunately, its just a rumor.” He already has a great gig right now. His career is in full swing and he wants to rise higher, so he’s staying with the music. And love. Yes, he’s looking for a special someone. Headed to Amsterdam, being on the road can get kind of lonely. Adam can count all the time and miles most productive. His smash hit, “Whataya Want From Me,” has just cracked the top ten of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. And, the beat goes on…
Tim and Katie Make Their Visit to Idolatry
All the Idols make a stop by Idolatry to talk. This is where you come to talk about being booted. When the Idols drop by, they have things they want to get off their chest. Entertainment Weekly reports that Katie would like the cameras to do a sort of “reality one-day-show,” where all the viewers get to see one day in the life of an American Idol contestant. Hey, that’s not a bad idea. She shares that there is so much going on behind the scenes to prepare for the show. A few hours with the finalists she feels would give fans a chance to see their real personalities, which might help capture votes. Sound bites are cool, but they limit what you can know about each contestant. Maybe next season, Katie.
Seventh place finisher on American Idol, Tim Urban, made his trip to Idolatry to chat about his time on the show. Tim is proud of the way he was able to last, week after week, and stick around. Week two and the Elvis hits week were his best performances, where he had his “moment.” The singer, songwriter came into the competition on the disqualification of Chris Golightly, and Simon let the Idol know the first week when his singing was not up to par that he slipped in under the rope. Billboard and Birthdays
Country crooner Danny Gokey celebrated his 30th birthday on April 24, and makes a splash on the Billboard Country Songs chart at number 26 with, “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me.” The tune comes from his album, now number 98 on the Billboard 200, “My Best Days.”
Check this out! Jason Castro debuts with his self-titled release at position 18 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Wow! Respectable showing. Love the album cover!
Adam Lambert lights up the Billboard Radio Songs chart, and sits at number 20 for the week. You know the song! The album, “For Your Entertainment,” is positioned at number 35 on Billboard 200. Work it Adam!
Our country sweetheart, Carrie Underwood is still representing at number 38 on Billboard 200 with her album, “Play On.” She performed her single, “Temporary Home,” at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Kris Allen is staying alive on the Radio chart at number 29 with one of my faves, “Live Like We’re Dying.” The song continues to groove at number 30 on the Hot 100 chart. Yeah, man!
Rocker Chris Daughtry’s “Leave This Town,” rests at number 74 on the Billboard 200. Check out Daughtry in an interview with Billboard on the album. Click here.
Happy Birthday to two more of our American Idols: Kelly Clarkson, who celebrated on April 24th, and turns 28. Birthday wishes go out to Allison Iraheta, who turned 18 on April 27.
Next to Say Bye-Bye
Here’s my prediction for this week, country music night with Shania Twain. Some say Siobhan may get the boot. I veto that and say, tsk, tsk, to all her naysayers. Siobhan will stay, cool outfits, mad boots, and all. A good Shania song could keep her home on the range and back for another week. It’s Aaron Kelly who needs to rope in a good performance. Maybe he can pull it off. If not, he’ll be the next to go.
So, back to the question: Who do you think should replace Simon? Leave your comments and suggestions below. Keep the votes coming in as we get closer to the grand finale of American Idol.
