America and the nations are in a state of chaos. Most of us, as Americans, realize that the September 11th, 2001 attacks on our nation have forever changed the state of the world and of our country today. The peace and security that we have known since this country’s inception is gone, and continues to be threatened by terrorists and Muslim extremists.
The atmosphere and even the attitude of most people is drastically different from what it was before these attacks. Currently, we continue to watch as our country and other nations remain on a constant alert in an attempt to deal with one of our greatest threats and enemies of the 21st century -International Terrorism.
With the terrorist attack on our nation on September 11 upon American shores, many experts have hesitantly affirmed that the use of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons are likely and probably even nearer than we might think. Unfortunately, we have entered into a terrible period of time that will ultimately lead the world straight into what the Bible refers to as the “Tribulation hour.”
Jesus, Himself, forewarned that the world would be in a state of chaos or mass confusion just prior to His return. ” And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the power of heaven shall be shaken” (Luke 21:25-26).
The word “perplexity” in this particular verse denotes mass confusion. In other words, the nations of the earth will be at a loss in finding solutions on how to deal with potentially catastrophic or plaguing problems they are faced with (e.g. heightened terrorism, economic recession and continued decline, oil leak in the gulf, recent volcano ash plume, etcetera). As a result, mass confusion or chaos will ensue, yet, hope still exists for a remnant, because of the God of all hope.
Many believe, as do I, that the resurrection and rapture of the Church will occur during a time when wars, terrorism, and even mass confusion and hysteria will dominate the scene. Furthermore, there are several Old Testament prophecies that allude to a rapture taking place before some great calamity befalls the earth (i.e. possible nuclear war).
In Isaiah 57:1 it reads, “The righteous perishes, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away from the evil to come.” The Hebrew word for “perish” in this particular verse is the word ovad, which means to cause to disappear. The phrase to “take away” is the Hebrew word asaph, which in this particular instance means to gather to a place of safety.
It is apparent that righteous people shall disappear from off of the planet, and many will wonder where they have gone. The Lord will gather them together to a place of safety. “Come my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast (Isaiah 27:20-21). However, God has already made a way of escape possible from the wrath and great tribulation to come, through the RAPTURE.
Although, we are currently living in a world of chaos and are undoubtedly plagued by perilous times, there remains hope with each new day when you place your life and world in God’s protective and loving hands. So if you are not prepared now, why not go ahead and make yourself rapture ready, because, Jesus is coming back soon!
