According to Amanda Bynes, 24, she is no longer interested in acting and has retired. This has come to shock many of her fans, and everyone can’t help but wonder, is this just a hoax?
Seeing as, aside from her Twitter entry, she has yet to confirm this, some believe so. But, why would Bynes want to retire so young? Maybe it is because she started so young. Synthesis.net states that she started at only 10 years old on the Nickelodeon show “All That.” Here, Bynes scored her big break with an exaggerated style of acting. Fourteen years later can seem like forever in Hollywood.
According to Bynes, she has just had it overall with the industry. According to The Huffington Post, she claims that “being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem.” She also stated “If I don’t love something anymore, I stop doing it.” Well, that explains much, but not enough. Bynes hasn’t really been seen since the blockbuster hit “Hairspray,” which debuted in 2007.
Many believe this is the reason why she suddenly has the urge to “retire.” Faux retirement can be the boast her career needs. A little publicity never hurt anyone; just look at Jay-Z. He “retired,” came back a little while later and has often been proclaimed one of the greatest rappers alive.
However, seeing as this statement was made on Twitter, of all places, you have to wonder how serious can she be? While the word spread like wildfire, I feel like there is no real substance to this claim until it is confirmed by either Bynes or her agent.
If this is true, her last film will be “Easy A,” which debuts this fall. Honestly, I feel like this is the perfect time for a celebrity hoax, considering the fact that Fox news stated that her “last” movie will be coming out this fall.
Then again, Bynes is one of the most type-cast actresses I’ve ever seen. She is always the goof ball in every role she plays, even in roles when she has a romance scene, so I can understand her frustrations. But, I feel like the world is just that much more complicated with Twitter in it. What’s real and what isn’t? I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
