I couldn’t wait to buy this game. I bought it for 60 dollars and waited for the Email with my account key. I was presented with 100 RTW Points, the item mall currency, and 50 hours of game time, including loading screens, which took up most of it. I thought it was a good buy. I then proceeded to bang my head against a brick wall in utter frustration.
The main source of problems is the bugs. My issue is that you need cars to get anywhere, but you can’t drive them at all. There is a delay of at least two seconds to start, turn accelerate, decelerate, or brake, which is too much for an action shooter MMO. You will find yourself crashing, blowing up, killing teammates, and losing missions due to this bug.
People hack it. When I say this I don’t mean there is periodically a griefer (person who destroys a game for his own amusement) who last about 30 seconds before the superhero admins come and ban him. No. I mean there are thousands of them. So many that in the one mission you will ever win, you will be accused of being one of them and banned. The admins only seem to ban innocent people and have cursed me out for reporting hackers, but these are the same guys who thought security meant to kill Spore.
The idea of a time limit in an MMO is terrible. I don’t mean a time limit with months. I mean in hours. If someone hacks you, you WILL pay with your credit card, SSN, and every dollar you will ever make. This has happened and EA just let it, so I doubt they will ever fix it.
The player base is as friendly as Adolf Hitler. Your own team members will run you over, then curse you out for being in the way. They will file mass reports of you cheating before you ever log in. They will break your real life computer by freezing the screen permanently.
The code for the graphics was written as efficiently as if you were to chop down a tree for a toothpick. The most basic graphics options cannot be played on a computer powerhouse. You will find yourself being replaced with a generic gangster quite frequently as well as a framerate that updates less often than a slide show.
People get to make their own theme songs, but it seems like every other player is either “Barbie Girl” or “Never Gonna Give You Up”, which gets old quickly. You can also change yourself, which you will have to do due to bugs that do it for you and make you have to revert them, but the cost is in the tens of thousands per update. You can save symbols that make up about half a folder in a Commodore 64. Actually that’s a lie. You can make even less than that and you have to use pre-made symbols to make yours. How is this creative?
All in all, I believe I have been robbed, as has everyone who bought this intentionally defective game. I would not recommend this to anyone.
