It has been over a year since the night when Ryan Seacrest declared Kris Allen the winner of Season 8 of American Idol. To the majority of people it did not seem comprehensible that Adam Lambert lost. Never in American Idol history has there ever been a male contestant with his vocal range and stage presence. How could a rather ordinary singer have beaten Adam Lambert? The animosity between the fans will never be resolved because the wrong person was given the title.
Almost immediately the Internet was abuzz with reports that Kris Allen had a little help from AT&T and a stadium full of students and town folk at his alma mater, the University of Central Arkansas. In fact the Speaker of the House in Arkansas, Robby Wells, posted on his blog that about 100 million votes were cast, Kris Allen had won and that Arkansas had delivered 38 million votes hours before Seacrest revealed the winner on American Idol.
Adam’s online fans became irate and starting mailing screen captures of Robby’s Blog, the Internet bragging and the Arkansas Democratic Gazette article that proved the Arkansas rumors to be true to news outlets all over the country.
The New York Times commented on the story in a brief article but failed to investigate and allowed Fox, AT&T and American Idol to deny impropriety. The new York Times let the story die.
The failure of the mainstream media to resolve the issue compelled me to investigate what really happened. I wrote the book, “American Idol Vote Scam”. My investigation into American Idol voting has bought out various fractions hell bent on deterring me from publicizing what I have uncovered. There are blogs that devote themselves to hating Adam and maligning me. I have been accused of slander, lying, insanity, stupidity, and even criminal activity. My book has been altered and pirated for illegal downloads. Cyber stalkers and cyber squatters have illegally used my name and the name of my business on twitter and blog accounts. They call me “crazy” and say I am “hating” on Kris. Some of the more deviant members of this group seem to think that I can be pushed to the brink of sanity by their torment. I am not like the cowards who hide behind fake names to carry out their illegal and obnoxious behavior. They are foolish enough to believe that they are untraceable even though they post at my websites with their e-mail addresses.
People that know me understand that I am committed to civil liberties and social justice. I am not a silly fan girl sexually drooling over Adam Lambert. I truly believe that many in the media stood down when they knew that Adam had been wronged because of his sexual orientation. It took me almost 400 pages to describe the various ways that Arkansas gave an unfair advantage to Kris that affected the top 12 of Season 8. My position is that when a television show is based on the premise that the audience is choosing the winner than they damn well better tell the truth.
Viewers spend their time money and energy voting. If their votes did not count than American Idol is perpetrating a deception upon the public. That is what my book is about.
