Who got kicked off American Idol on May 5? The results of who got kicked off American Idol for May 5 left Aaron Kelly shy of the top four. The final five tried to live up to the memory of Frank Sinatra, with help from Harry Connick Jr, but only four got by enough to make it to next week. Aaron Kelly had surprised a few fans by getting this far already, yet since he had, it looked like his luck would continue for a while. Instead, it was finally Kelly’s time when he got kicked off American Idol on May 5, leaving the competition that much closer to the end.
Kelly, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Michael Lynche and Lee DeWyze had their fates on the line in another results show. But first, they had to perform a group song, watch Lady Gaga perform her new single, and relive their time with Harry Connick Jr. this week. But eventually, they actually had time to answer who got kicked off American Idol for May 5.
DeWyze was the first one to be declared safe, while Bowersox once again breezed through. Most expected that James would be among the bottom two, but instead it came down to Lynche and Kelly. Both have survived quite a bit to get here, yet the odd man out this time was Kelly.
The 17-year-old was just one of many finalists this season to get criticized week after week. In spite of the occasional pan – and thanks in part to other weaker singers – Kelly made it to the final five against the odds. Last night, James was the favorite to leave and keep Kelly going, but Kelly was the one who got kicked off American Idol on May 5 instead.
With Kelly out of the running, Bowersox, Lynche, James and DeWyze are the final four left this season. Bowersox remains the favorite, although DeWyze is surging, while Big Mike Lynche took a step back by landing in the bottom two. James was not the one who was kicked off American Idol for May 5, although many wanted him to be, so he needs a big performance next time to correct it.
After answering who got kicked off American Idol on May 5, the show is left with three weeks left to salvage this season. Since there was more buzz around Connick and Lady Gaga than the actual contestants, the field is running out of time to endure themselves to disappointed fans.
Following this week of Sinatra, Connick and Lady Gaga, the third-to-last week of the year will focus on movie songs. The final four perform Hollywood’s biggest hits on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
