College Point, New York, isn’t a town known for its’ restaurants. In fact, it’s not a town known for much of anything. Conrad Poppenhausen helped establish the town when he had his factory in the area. Also, the company that created dress shields in the 1900’s first produced the product in College Point. In terms of restaurants and cusine, it’s not a particularly notable area. Despite this, there are still places to take a date or significant other for a romantic evening.
Boulder Creek Steakhouse
Of the list, Boulder Creek is the most romantic of the bunch. While the price is neither a bargain nor expensive, it’s about what you would expect for a restaurant. A steak dinner will cost about twenty dollars. Appetizers and desserts are, of course, extra, and usually a good idea, as the portions are decently-sized, but may not be enough. Overall, you will probably end up spending about sixty dollars for the meal for a date. The location is ideal. It’s located along 20th avenue, one of three ways to enter/leave College Point, a relatively populated area, with other places to shop nearby. Boulder Creek is also not far from a local park, perhaps a nice post-dinner place to go. The lighting is dim, and near the entrance is a fireplace, so there is definitely a cozy, warm, and romantic atmosphere. The booths are padded and comfortable, and the dim light really compliments the mood. This is probably your best bet in terms of a romantic dinner in College Point.
Cascarino’s is probably the most well-known restaurant in College Point. This Italian place has been around for a number of years, and was even served at Shea Stadium and now Citi Field at multiple locations in the stadium. There multiple Cascarino’s restaurants in New York. While they tend to be a bit pricey, the food is usually very good, and worth it. This particular Cascarino’s is located along College Point’s main street, College Point Boulevard. While parking is extremely hard to come by on the street, Cascarino’s has a parking lot. Depending on the time of day, however, it may be full. Inside, there are both booths and tables, and the dim lighting creates something of a romantic mood, but not nearly as much as Boulder Creek’s. A TV over the counter usually has a sports game or something of that sort on, but overall, the atmosphere is more relaxing than anything.
A well-reviewed Japanese restaurant, Akiyama serves excellent food. While the restaurant is somewhat pricey, it is well worth it, as is the case with Cascarino’s. There is a parking lot with plenty of parking, and is located along 14th Avenue, one of the ways to enter/exit College Point. While it may not be as easy to get to as Boulder Creek, it is still accessible. While the restaurant itself is small, it has something of an upper-class feel. The restaurant is decorated in a Japanese style and carries something of that in the atmosphere. Again, as is the case with Cascarino’s, it’s not the most romantic place in the world, but it’s a nice place to take a date or a loved one to eat, and the food is second to none.
