OK. This one was my favorite episode of the season so far. I know my recaps have been kinda negative in the past, but this episode really made me laugh.
Pamela and her partner clock Roxy doing 54 in a 35 mph zone. Roxy’s taillight is out, she has a cracked windshield, AND she is also wanted in Alabama for not paying a previous ticket. Roxy is all smiles and tries to get out of it, especially when she sees that Pamela, her best friend, is one of the officers. Pamela talks her partner into letting Roxy go with just another ticket. Roxy thinks Pam should have gotten her off the hook with a warning only. Oh, c’mon, Roxy. If it weren’t for Pam, you’d have been arrested. Later at the Hump Bar, Roxy screams at Pam, calling her “Officer”, which I thought was hilarious.
Also during this episode, CJ argues a case about a dump site and its possible harm to the army’s water supply. Michael is on the other side of the case. I was a bit disappointed by the story line. CJ wins, as usual, and she and Mike have a little spat, but they get over it. Harry Hamlin guest-starred. Was it just me, or does his character maybe have a thing for CJ? I think that storyline would be interesting. CJ would be like, “Oh, he’s my teacher, that’s why I’m going over to his house after dark”, and Mike would start acting all macho and jealous.
There’s something wrong with Joan. We don’t know what it is, and I feel like they’ll milk it for all it’s worth. The episode ended with a question mark in the air. Let’s see, Joan’s symptoms are:
–forgetting a pot that was boiling on the stove
–yelling at her husband
–forgetting about the bassinet
What could be wrong with her? Some kinda brain problem? I dunno, I have those symptoms every day, and I’m still not in therapy yet.
Also, in this epi, Jeremy is acting like a cool big-brother-to-be. He paints the new nursery and puts the crib together for his pregnant mom. Also, he makes a scrapbook of pictures and drawings that contain cute advice for the little one. I liked that, but I still can’t forgive Jeremy for beating his mom in season one, no matter how much they try to redeem his character.
The preview of the next episode looks somewhat promising. Denise is working in 9-1-1 dispatch and gets a call from a little kid saying that her mom is hurt. The phone disconnects before she can get a location. Her supervisor doesn’t take it seriously, and Denise ends up calling Officer Pamela to help her out.
