Winning the lottery is every lottery player’s dream come true. You have all of this money and can buy anything or do anything you wish with it. Hopefully, you will spend the money wisely and not waste it on silly items. On occasion, I must admit I have bought a lottery ticket, and I have actually won a dollar or two on a scratch off ticket. However, I have never been fortunate enough to win anything from a Powerball ticket. If I ever played the lottery regularly and won a nice chunk of change, I have an idea as to what I would do with my winnings, and I know winning would change my life for the best.
Pay off debt – The first thing I would do is pay off my debt, which is my mortgage and a credit card. I would never have to worry about having any debt again as long as I spend my money wisely. I don’t like having debt, but I know it is a fact of life if you wish to have anything in life. I would also like to be generous and pay off the debt for my small family. My family has supported me through my divorce so I would like to repay my debt back to them.
Investment – I would like to invest my money in some way so that I will have money as I grow older. I would also like to invest some of the money for my children’s college funds. I know how important having a college education is these days, and I want to make sure my children have the best education they can possibly have.
Buy a new car – This might be a selfish thing, but I have been driving the same car for over eight years now. As a single mom, I can’t afford to buy a new vehicle right now. I also have a dream of owning a camper, something like a pop-up or a travel trailer, to pull behind whatever new vehicle I bought. I have had the opportunity to travel in a motor home a couple of times with my parents, and I would love to be able to do that some day.
Travel – One of my most favorite things to do is travel. As a child, my parents travelled quite a bit so I saw half of the United States before I turned 18. I would like to do the same thing with my own children. I would love to be able to take them out West and show them where my grandfather lived and take them to Disney World. Even once they are grown and gone, I would like to travel to new places that I have never been, such as Australia and the Caribbean, and return to some of my favorite places like Cancun, England and Disney World.
Donate to charity – As the saying goes, I saved the best for last. Being able to give to people in need is one of the greatest things someone can do with money they have won from the lottery. I would donate to such charities as domestic violence shelters, humane shelters, and cancer research. I have dealt with domestic violence in the past, love animals, and lost my favorite grandma to cancer so all of these charities are near and dear to my heart and would receive donations first.
