If global warming solutions were easy to come by, scientists wouldn’t be locked in disagreement over it and if the Climate Gate scandal is on the level it would mean that global warming is a hoax. However, there are some rather suspicious facts concerning exactly what was really communicated in these emails and those who posted them. Moreover, if there was any doubt about the threat of global climate change, why did world leaders converge on the climate change conference in Copenhagen and make a treaty to reduce global warming?
All of us have witnessed radical changes in the climate so climate change is still an important issue. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters that climate change is indeed happening and is not in dispute. Apparently, India and China, two of the world’s largest carbon producers agree because they recently announced their decision to begin lowering carbon emissions.
The climate Gate scandal has radically changed the opinions of several who once supported climate change. Matter of fact a number of people have become so paranoid that even the reputable scientists are being questioned.
According to Grandia, “The folder of information contains over 3,800 separate files and it is clear that someone has taken a lot of time to pull together what they thought would be the most damaging. This is not the work of a hacker, unless that hacker is extremely well-versed in climate science, and specifically the conspiracy theories of the climate denial movement.”
We have to remember that big oil companies are fighting climate change policies tooth and nail and with so much money at stake, it wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if they resorted to underhanded tactics.
Nevertheless, there are a number of things we can do to help reduce global climate change which, if enough people participated, would go a long way toward a solution.
Recycling is probably one of the most helpful things anyone can do for the environment. More than 44 billion newspapers end up in our landfills every single day. Aluminum cans remain in landfills for more than 200 years. Imagine how many recyclable items each person throws into the garbage every day which ends up in a landfill.
We don’t have to give up personal transportation, rights or freedoms. Helping preserve the environment is everybody’s responsibility and simply forming better habits will go a long way in helping the environment.
* Low-flow toilets and shower heads
* Turn off unnecessary lights, computers and other appliances
* Keep the car maintained
* Buy green products
* Reuse shopping bags
The list goes on and there are plenty of websites that give a number of ways a person can help the environment without tossing their car keys into the trash, walking or taking a bus. The world we live in is our home so why wouldn’t we want to help preserve it regardless of whether or not global climate change is as bad as they say it is?
Therefore, when it comes to global warming solutions we should let the scientists and politicians sort that out. The Lord will deal with them when the time comes. Meanwhile, we should concentrate on helping to preserve the environment which is a reasonable and worthwhile endeavor. It will not only help the planet, it will also save us money. No doubt, we’re all for that.
