A life of a college student is one that is constantly busy. You do not need to be midway into the school year and missing something that you need on the spot. College bookstores always overcharge, and who wants to spend extra money during this economic time. Weather you live in a dorm or your parents basement this guide will help you be prepared to start your upcoming semester.
The most essential item every college student needs is a computer. I wont say a laptop or a desktop, I will just say a computer. The varieties that exist out there are endless. My suggestion is to find a computer that can hold a ton of memory. As a college student writing papers is required. It can help if you keep these papers together for future years. You never know when you might need to look back, and every bit helps. Along with a computer, I would suggest a printer. Though emailing papers may be the new fad, some professors still want papers turned in. Having a printer can help avoid a long wait in the school computer room where printing can become impossible.
Notebooks, may be old school but effective. Taking notes keeps you from having to read the books. A trick I learned since I have Adult ADHD. If you pay attention in class, write effective and detailed notes, you can write a whole paper and never open a book. I am not saying you should do it, in fact I feel that reading can help you a great deal for a variety of reasons. Yet, when you have six or seven classes, and extra curricular activities, along with a job. Reading can become the last thing on your to do list. I would suggest four five subject notebook, to hold you over for the year. Enough space to take notes, and enough books for two semesters.
A binder, and an organizer would be useful. In my freshman year I received tons of handouts, or worksheets. Professor tend to give those out, in my opinion to help you focus more. Not so much lecture, do it yourself, cheat sheets; these things are a must keep. Yet folders are so first grade, and you do not want to feel like a child. So invest in a binder and a hole puncher. An organizer helps keep you up to date with what you have done, and what you need to do. It may be the only way to keep you all together in a college setting. Though syllabi may help with the different course aspect, how often do your refer to that during the year. Place it all in an organizer, and keep the dates together.
Writing tools, printing ink, locker, and a scientific calculator. All are essential items, even if you do not think so. All college students need a pen, and if you have printer ink is important. A locker can be used if you go to the campus gym, or pool. You may even need it for a class, so buy early and buy frugal. A scientific calculator is a useful tool you may need for your math or science class. So keep it close, you may not need it at first but always good to have.
This is my school guide for all of you back to school college students. Remember a computer, printer, four five subject notebooks, a binder, hole puncher, organizer, writing tools, printing ink, locker, and a scientific calculator will help you this year with all of your college needs. Having a dictionary would be useful as well. I would suggest purchasing these items from a Staples, or Amazon. These items should be bought now while all the back to school sales are going on. Save money, buy early, and have a great school year.
