6 Online Websites I Waste Time With

by itchyfish

I may waste a lot of time on the 6 websites I am about to share with you, but I do this to break the monotony of working from home. Sure working from is a good thing for me because I can work when I want and how long I want each day. Even working from home, I need a break like everyone else who works at a land job.

NOTE: By no means am I promoting any of these sites, I am sharing what I do to waste time while online.

Facebook

Anyone that has me as a friend on Facebook probably sees me there quite a bit. I normally start off by checking out what other people are doing throughout the day. Heck, I even comment from time to time.

The more time I spend on Facebook, the more friends from high school I find on there. I even have family members I talk with quite a bit because this is cheaper than calling them on the phone or going for a visit since we live hundreds of miles apart.

Sure I spend more time on Facebook wasting time playing games than I do any other site, but I do come up with ideas for articles during my game playing. Some of the games I have become bored with and deleted them off my game section.

Twitter

Yes, I waste plenty of time reading through tweets of people who I am following or who are following me on Twitter. I even waste time on Twitter reading through some of the Trending Topics. As of late my interest in the Trending Topics is a fail because they have been all about the FIFA World Cup in Africa. I’m not a sports nut of any kind so those Trending Topics bore me into a coma.

I would like to thank Associated Content’s ACNews though for all the extra fun they have added to my time wasting on Twitter. They have provided a few games for those who follow them to gain some higher paying gigs with them for us to write about. All my time wasting on Twitter isn’t in vain thanks to Associated Content and ACnews.

MyPoints

I waste countless hours every month at Mypoints. I waste these hours every month clicking emails, filling out surveys, spinning to win, and printing coupons for grocery shopping.

Sure printing coupons really isn’t a waste of time since it saves me money at the grocery store. I probably have saved as much on groceries with the coupons than I have in earning points for gift cards.

The one thing I do like though, MyPoints does reward me with points for a certain amount of coupons I print and redeem every month. So I guess my wasting time on this pays out two fold. Maybe MyPoints isn’t a complete waste of time when I print and use the coupons each month to help cut back on spending and the likes.

Freeride

I don’t waste as much time at Freeride as I do at MyPoints, but I do waste enough time there to redeem a gift card or two a year from them. I seem to be wasting more time with Freeride because they have added a tasks section to help list items in the correct categories.

That isn’t to bad because I do find a few things along the way that I could use in my house or for my car. For me this is the easiest and cheapest way to window shop.

ToTheGames

I had started playing at ToTheGames several years ago. I played yahtzee, word search, slingo and a few other games on there until last year. I realized I spent more time playing the games than I did working. Well, I had quit playing there for a year so I could focus more on working at home.

I started playing again there earlier this year because I needed a break throughout the day from writing and other things I do to earn money.

Points and Prizes

While I don’t waste as much time on Points and Prizes as I do with the other websites I have listed above, I do manage to waste a few hours there every month searching for words to earn points with.

I have managed to find a few prizes to redeem my points for on this website. I normally redeem for music CDs of artists I like. Even though the most popular CDs get taken before I can get to them, I have added to my music collection this way.

There is one thing that I don’t consider a complete waste of time on Points and Prizes are their different websites. I have found quite a few recipes, kid activities, celebrity gossip (yes a distinct waste time for many people), and other useful information that has helped me out. Some of it I have shared over the years with other people.

It seems Points and Prizes may not be a complete waste of my time since I can use the recipes along with the coupons from MyPoints to plan a few meals each month.
