Video games are meant to be fun and sometimes developers lose sight of that in their quest to make a game challenging enough to really make a gamer sweat. But when you’re not in the mood for that kind of intense experience, there are always the easy games out there that are just perfect for anyone, no matter what age they are. Just because these are some of the easiest video games out there doesn’t mean that they’re not fun. On the contrary, these games are a great way to spend an afternoon!
1. Spyro the Dragon( Playstation 1)
This game for the Playstation was one of those perfect games for younger players and at the time you no doubt thought it was quite a challenging cookie. However, if you were to slap that old game into your PS2 and try it again, you’d find that this game is one of the easiest around. Enemies explode with barely a glance, the requirements of each level are easy enough for any four year old to figure out, and the final boss was a bit of a joke. That’s not to say that this isn’t a great game with a place in our hearts, though.
2. Lego Star Wars (GameCube)
This George Lucas meets building block toys video game is one of those great gems that you won’t soon forget. The game is witty, comical, and just plain fun. But part of what makes it such a pleasant experience is that it’s so darn easy. Blast your way through levels, complete simple puzzles, and have fun defeating bosses so simple that you can literally run circles around them and laugh before deciding to finish them off. It’s a lot of fun, but not much of a challenge.
3. Kirby’s Dream Land (Gameboy)
This game for the original gameboy enchanted gamers with fun gameplay at kid friendly levels of difficulty. The enemies in this game were blown apart as if they were made of paper and the bosses were so predictable that it takes you about a half a second to understand where to stand so that you never get hit by an apple. This game was short on top of being easy, but that didn’t stop it from making a splash with gamers and spurring a long series of slightly more difficult sequels.
4. Ape Escape (Playstation 1)
This fantastic game for the Playstation is another great game for younger players. In it, you play Spike, a young boy who must capture escaped apes that have been thrown to different time periods. Your weapons include a number of gadgets, but mainly a stun club and a net for capturing the apes. The enemies are easy, lives are plentiful, and especially in the first levels the apes are so easy to catch that you’ll wonder if they’re even trying. But that doesn’t stop this from being one of the most creative and fun games in Playstation history.
5. Destroy All Humans! (Xbox)
This wacky game for Xbox involves the player taking control of Martian flying saucers an systematically annihilating the human race. Needless to say, the little hairless apes don’t put up much of a fight. That doesn’t stop this ball of mayhem they call a video game from being one of the most fun ways to spend an afternoon ever conceived, however. This is an excellent example of how games being fun and easy isn’t always a bad thing.
