Awesome! You were fortunate enough to nab an iPhone 4, but the fun is only starting. Jailbreaking your iPhone will open up the realm of possibilities for your iDevice and following are my favorite Jailbroken apps and tweaks for the iPhone 4.
My3G
FaceTime is the cool new video chatting app that’s only available to cool iPhone 4 owners – like yourself – but it suffers from a pretty crappy limitation; it only works over Wi-Fi. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could use FaceTime anytime? Well, with a Jailbroken iPhone 4, you’d be able to tweak your iPhone 4 to run FaceTime over your iPhone’s 3G network. The Jailbroken app, My3G, is a simple solution for your out of Wi-Fi range FaceTime woes.
Frash
One of iPhone 4 user’s biggest gripes about their latest iDevice is that its Safari browser doesn’t support Adobe’s Flash player – you know, that thing that serves over 99.9% of web users. Fortunately, Frash made its way on the Jailbreaking scene and allows the iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad to stream Flash seamlessly on their iDevices.
MyWi
If you’re iPhone 4 isn’t the only Wi-Fi enabled device that you own and you’re not in a Wi-Fi hotspot, you’d be out of luck with a traditional iPhone 4 – unless you feel like forking over an extra $20 a month for tethering through AT&T. Tethering turns your iPhone 4 into a Wi-Fi hotspot and allows you to connect other Wi-Fi devices – laptops, netbooks, etc. – and the Jailbroken MyWi app allows you to tether your iPhone 4 for onetime fee of $20; instead of taking on a $20 monthly charge.
Infinidock/Infiniboard
The iPhone 4 is longer than the other iPhones, but it’s still a small gadget. To get more out of the small space of your iPhone 4, I recommend using Infinidock and Infiniboard. These apps help to give more room to your iPhone’s dashboard by allowing your iPhone to scroll vertically and give more room to dock your favorite apps to your iPhone 4’s dock.
Activator
No, we’re not talking about hair products. Activator is an iPhone Jailbroken hack that lets you assign shortcuts for easy access to apps on your iPhone. You’ll be able to assign functions to shaking your iPhone, pressing or holding the home button, and several other functions.
