Burbank is a great city and I’ve always had tons of fun when I’ve visited. There are lots of exciting things to do, and its close proximity to LA make it a wonderful place to live. You don’t have to travel far to have a good time this 4th of July. I’ve found three great Independence Day celebrations that the whole family can enjoy close to home.
Star Spangled Salute to America at the Starlight Bowl ~ Burbank
This star spangled event on Sunday, July 4th is the kick off to the Starlight Bowl Summer Concert Series. Gates open at 6:00pm, the concert will run from 6:30pm – 9:00pm, and the fireworks spectacular will begin at 9:00pm.
The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra will start things off with a Patriotic Concert featuring many old standards and crowd pleasing sing-a-longs. Following the BPO performance, Stone Soul’s passion for the sounds of Motown’s greatest hits will send you back to the 1960’s. Their repertoire of songs includes the hit music of James Brown, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Otis Redding and many more Motown greats. Young and old a like are sure to be entertained. After the concert, prepare to be inspired by the spectacular fireworks display in the City of Burbank.

Americafest 2010 at the Rose Bowl ~ Pasadena
If you don’t want to hang out in Burbank on the 4th of July, you can travel a few miles down the road to Pasadena for the 84th Annual 4th of July Celebration at the Rose Bowl, Sunday July 4, 2010. Americafest boasts the Biggest and Best Fireworks Show in Southern California.
The festivities begin at 2:00pm with the Family Fun Festival and Food Court. Expect a fun-filled day with lots of music, food, crafts, and entertainment for the entire family. You can listen to area favorite, Drum Corp practice while enjoying a tailgate lunch outside the stadium.
At 7:00pm the Drum Corps International, featuring the Academy, Mandarins, Pacific Crest, Blue Devils and Santa Clara Vanguard,will perform along with a special military tribute to our great nation’s Armed Forces.
At 9:00pm, the fireworks extravaganza sponsored by PyroSpectaculars will conclude the Americafest 2010, 4th of July spectacular.
