If you ever find yourself in the Miami area then you will be fortunate enough to have multiple options for local farmers markets. Miami-Dade county is massive and just about every neighborhood from Aventura to Homestead has a farmers market.
This article will guide you through three of the more centralized farmers markets in the area. They will be anywhere from the famous Miami Beach to the quaint fishing neighborhood of Coconut Grove.
Coral Gables Farmers Market: This is one of the best farmers markets in the area because it is like a green living goldmine. Not only does the Coral Gables farmers market sell great organic food from local growers, it also offers free cooking and gardening classes and Tai Chi at 8 a.m. It is set in the beautiful Mediterranean ambiance of Coral Gables directly in front of Coral Gables City Hall on Saturday mornings. There is only one problem, since the weather in Miami can get pretty unbearable for such activities throughout the year, the Coral Gables Farmers Market only occurs during the winter. Regardless, it is one of the best farmers markets in the area. Visit the City of Coral Gables website to stay updated on when the annual Farmers Market will resume.
Lincoln Road Farmers Market: Set in the always picturesque Miami Beach, the Lincoln Road Farmers Market happens ever Sunday from 9 a.m to 6:30 p.m. The market offers fresh produce, fresh cut flowers, plants, jams, and jellies. There is also a featured organic market just outside of the Lincoln Theatre. This event is put on by The Market Company which organizes several markets in Miami-Dade County. For more information please visit The Market Company website.
Coconut Grove Organic Market: Every Saturday you can stroll through the streets of Coconut Grove and find a variety of organic fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds, and raw vegan foods. The Coconut Grove Farmers Market also offers a salad bar, organic raw pizzas, and homemade ice creams. The weekly event is presented by Glaser Organic Farms, a company dedicated to fostering relationships with local farmers. To learn more about the Coconut Grove Farmers Market visit the Glaser Organic Farms website.
