3 Books that Should Be Made into a Drama, Documentary and Scifi Movie

by itchyfish

There have been some great box office movies of late-Avatar, The Hurt Locker, and the upcoming, Robin Hood with Russell Crow. You found me out, I’m an action, science fiction groupie. But let’s face it, there are times when you cracked open a great book and fall into fantasy land, craving to see a plotline or event on the big screen.

There are thousands of books out there, just screaming to have Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie play action heroes. Sorry, the movies I picked aren’t one of them-my taste is eclectic, but these books call for drama, action and a bit of real life adventure, which should be made into a movie. Here are my three picks!

Drama
Barack Obama: Dreams from My Father

Who wouldn’t want to run to the movie theater to see the real life President, Barack Obama up-close and historically perfect-with Will Smith as the commander in Chief! The height-those ears scream, yes, we can. I can see Smith going back in time when he was a little boy, up all night with his mother-studying for a major test. Going back to Kenya to find his family roots, and what better actor than Laurence Fishburne-to play powerful Barack Obama senior. I could also see Susan Sarandon play strong, single mother Ann Dunham-making sure President Obama is on the straight and narrow. What a movie! What better director to make history is the man who loves to go it alone in movies like JFK and Alexander; of course it’s Oliver Stone. Ah, but is it really a dream? Only time will tell if we really see how it all began.

Lead Actor: Will Smith
Barack Obama I: Laurence Fishburne
Ann Dunham: Susan Sarandon
Director: Oliver Stone

Documentary
Anderson Cooper: Dispatches From the Edge

What great drama, or should I say documentary we could witness-if someone created a movie about how Anderson Cooper started his life as a journalist. Anderson is the son of wealthy upper New York family empire-Gloria Vanderbilt. I can just see Director David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Panic Room) showing Anderson played by Edward Norton, going it along-as he ventures out in the jungles, only taking his lone camera equipment starter kit to prove his manhood. The lost of his brother (Carter Cooper), played by Robert Pattinson to suicide, would be a test of family strength, the drive to make it on your own career goals, and boldness to show the world tragedies like Hurricane Katrina in a humanistic way. I would go see this film!

Anderson Cooper: Edward Norton
Carter Cooper: Robert Pattinson
Director: David Fincher

Science Fiction
Moon Dust and Madness | Startdust and Shadows 1 & 2

One of the best young adult series every made was from an author named Janelle Taylor. It had action, romance and yes, even Scifi-to make Twilight moms go weak in the knees. Moondust and Madness and its counter part Stardust and Shadows, is the best star ship (The Wonderlust) captain rouge (Varian Saar) around. Played by Actor Sam Worthington (Avatar) would be the hot shot action hero that needs to save the galaxy from total destruction. Earthling sexy scientist-Jane Gryson, played by Heroes star Ali Larter-who’s kidnapped and made into a slave by Saar for matting purposes. Oh the drama is heated, sexy and cool. Why not bring in Director Quentin Tarantino to add a little spice to the Evil twin brother (Ryker Triloni) What a fantasy ride this would be-popcorn anyone, as this story is not exactly how it appears?

Varian Saar: Sam Worthington (Avatar)
Jana Gryson: Ali Larter
Director: Quentin Tarantino

Barack Obama – Dreams from my Father
Anderson Cooper – Dispatches from the Edge
Janelle Taylor – Moondust and Madness – Startdust and Shadows
