The 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers training camp will be held in Latrobe, Pennslyvania. This year’s training camp will begin July 30th and will end August 18th, 2010.
Where The Camp Is Held
The 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers training camp has been held at the St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennslyvania for forty-four years. The campus opensto fans at 1:30 every afternoon during the Steelers camp. St. Vincent College is closed to the public one hour after practice is closed.
Parking
There is handicapped parking available for Pittsburgh Steeler fans attending the camp. Parking is free at St. Vincent College. The campus sets on a hill and parking sets on the hillsides near the stadium. The parking is in open fields. The parking lots open to the public at noon. Even though the practice doesn’t start until 2:55, it really is a good idea to get in the parking lots when they first open. These lots fill up quickly.
Standing in Line
I attended one of the practices during the Steelers training camp last year. There are alot of fans that attend these practices. Be prepared to stand in line. There are concession stands open during the training camp. There are also people who sell water and drinks along the campus.
Open Night Practice
During the training camp, the Pittsburgh Steelers hold one open practice for the public during the evening at the Latrobe High School football stadium. This year the night practice will be held on August 6th.
Steelers Merchandise Stands
There is a large canvas tent full of Steelers merchandise for Steelers fans to buy. There are alot of cool items in this tent. There are also small trailors with Steelers merchandise near the stadium. In one of the campus buildings, there is also a store that carries St. Vincent College items and Pittsburgh Steelers items to buy.
Steelers Experience
An area near the stadium is set up so fans can run through similar drills the Steelers do. This is called the Steeler Experience. According to the website www.steelers.com., this area will be at the training camp again this year.
The “Coca Cola Great Hall” will also be at the Steelers training camp again this year. The “Coca Cola Great Hall” is a traveling faciltiy that holds a history of the Pittsburgh Steelers teams according to the website www.steelers.com. This facility also holds an area where fans can experience announcing a Steelers play. This is called “You Make The Call” according to the website www.steelers.com., Steelers-2010 Training Camp.
Autographs
During the training camp, there is an area where fans can ask for players autographs. However, the players can choose not to participate in the autograph session.
The St. Vincent Campus is a beautiful college that sets outside the small town of Latrobe Pennsylvania. The football field sets at the bottom of several hills. There is no bad seat in the stadium. I sat in the bleachers last year to watch the practice. A football training camp is a really cool experience for the die hard fan.
