2010 FIFA World Cup’s Group E is probably one of the groups that -in theory- is the less fortunate. None of the teams – except for Netherlands – appear to be quarter final contenders. Netherlands should have no problem to win its three matches and leave the rest of the group fight to death for the second place.
WHAT TO THINK ABOUT THE GROUP:
It looks like Netherlands could crush its opponents. Cameroon is not an espectacular team, but they have the talent of Samuel Eto’o to solve their problems if he plays at his best. Denmark did a good job qualifying, the team looks solid, but not impressive. Japan is always giving surprises, and their speedy football can become a nightmare for Denmark and Cameroon.
HOW THEY RANKED LAST APRIL:
FIFA ranks every international football team on the 28th of each month; so, the rank for these four teams during April 28th. 2010 was like this:
Netherlands ranked as number 4 of the world.
Denmark ranked as 35th.
Japan ranked as number 45 of the world.
Cameroon ranked as 19th.
The numbers for May 28th. are going to show probably the same ranks, usually a team doesn’t climb or loses many spots each month, if the any team ranks higher or lower is in an average of 3 spots. Meaning that Japan was number 45 in April, but in May could be 42 or 48 on average.

Betting odds favor Japan with 9 points, Denmark with 4 points, Cameroon with 4 points and Netherlands with no points, sending Netherlands home and waiting to check results between Denmark and Cameroon to see who qualifies as second place. However, don’t get excited if your team is favorite in certain matches, gamblers usually go for the underdog of the match.
Netherlands is the big favorite of group E. The problem with Netherlands is in the defensive line, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem, at least with the teams they’re playing against in the first round.
Experts believe that Denmark has a good chance, especially if they get a nice result against Cameroon. Cameroon could take the second place, if they’re motivated to be in their continent, besides they have a couple of super stars in their lines. Japan is a great team in Asia, but they have trouble when playing against teams from other continents.
