Last night on the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, emcee Regis Philbin was as dapper as ever, while it was an emotional night as some well deserved tributes were paid. And Oprah’s boy- Dr. Oz- nabbed a coveted award in his first year as a talk show host, beating out veterans like Regis and Kelly and The View crew. So what else happened on the 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards? Here are the highlights and the list of winners:
Tribute to As the World Turns. This long running soap will end its 54-year television run this fall. A tribute was certainly in order and it featured clips of some of ATWT’s most famous faces, including Meg Ryan, who started out on the soap back in 1982.
Lifetime Achievement Award- Agnes Nixon. The soap opera creator was honored for her 45 years in the biz. Nixon is best known for her long running ABC soaps, All My Children and One Life to Live. And remember Loving? Nixon created that one, too!
Tribute to Dick Clark. The legendary Dick Clark was also honored, in a tribute that included Ryan Seacrest, Chubby Checker, Marie Osmond and clips from Clark’s long running hit show, American Bandstand.
Tribute to All My Children. it’s been 40 years since All My Children first graced the daytime airwaves- and Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) still looks as young as ever. Must be all those husbands!
