So what if 2010 College Football predictions and picks are a bit harder to make during the summer? It’s not even July but that certainly doesn’t mean our brains aren’t revolving around the upcoming college football season. The new conference shuffle isn’t going to make predictions and picks for the 2010 College Football season easier to come by. But with that in mind, here is who I see taking the National Championship in college football for 2010.
Keep in mind that predicting the college football season is similar to figuring out if a tornado is heading in your direction or not.
My college predictions have Alabama back in the BCS Title game in January, 2011. The Crimson Tide is the obvious choice. I’d rather not be obvious. But how can you deny the dominance, particularly against Florida, that Alabama demonstrated last year. Nick Saban will always have his teams competitive on a national level(as long as it is not in the NFL). Look at what he did at Michigan State, LSU and now Alabama. The Crimson Tide will be loaded on defense and their offense is going to be stacked, too. The real problem with predicting Alabama is that the Tide is playing in the Southeastern Conference. Teams sometimes slip just a little and lose the opportunity to play for a BCS title in a conference that tough. The SEC has determined many National Title participants and it would be odd to project for 2010 that an SEC team will not be in the Title game. If not Alabama, it may just be the Florida Gators without Tim Tebow. You heard me right. The Gators might be better even without one of the college greats of all time. That means an SEC Title game could once again determine a National Title contender. While I think Florida will be next to unbeatable, I still think Alabama holds the rights on the term unbeatable in 2010. Look for the Tide to figure out a way to get it done when the cooler months prevail.
So who will face Alabama in the BCS Title game in 2010 according to my 2010 College Football predictions and picks? I think Ohio State is destined for the 2010 National Title game. I believe the Buckeyes will make the run regardless of what happens in the second game of the year against Miami. Even with a loss, the Buckeyes are easily the second best team entering the 2010 College Football season in my opinion. Ohio State always seems to have to hurdle one horrible object after another to get there. I think this season the Buckeyes will find the hurdling a bit easier in a not so great overall Big Ten.
My 2010 College Football predictions and picks continue with the aforementioned BCS National Title game between Ohio State and Alabama. I see this game as a potential blockbuster for the sport of college football. The NCAA would not only have two legendary football programs in the title game, they would also have the two best teams should Alabama and Ohio State make it there. Alabama is going to be tough defensively in any huge matchup. The Crimson Tide have the big game experience which could be the ultimate difference. I believe this BCS National Title game could be a coin flip, though. The Buckeyes will be playing with a passion we haven’t seen from Ohio State in recent years. For that reason, I believe Ohio State will win the 2010-2011 BCS National Title game in college football. I do want to mention that I believe Ohio State will need to play a near perfect game to beat the Crimson Tide at their best.
That’s it for my 2010 College Football predictions and picks. If things fall into place, the OSU vs. Alabama BCS National Title game could be fantastic and the game between the two teams with the most talent. That doesn’t always make for good television. But I believe this year it will. Ohio State wins 23-21.
