The American Idol Top 10 album now has an official release date. The 2010 American Idol Top 10 album has also released its track listings, providing fans with the first look at music that will come from the current season of American Idol. The Top 10 album from season nine will be released on May 11 and is simply called American Idol: Season 9. The CD will include songs from all of the Top 10 artists (listed below), even if they have already been eliminated from the show this season. What was chosen for the representative tracks were what producers felt were the best performances from the first part of the current season. It means that a second album encompassing the full season will come at a later time.
Here is a partial list of the tracks which will appear on American Idol: Season 9:
*Crystal Bowersox’s rendition of Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee”
*Lee Dewyze’s version of “Treat Her Like a Lady”
*Aaron Kelly’s “I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing”
*Casey James performance of “Jealous Guy”
*Didi Benami singing “Play with Fire”
*Siobhan Magnus’ version of “Paint It Black”
*Katie Stevens’ version of “Let It Be.”
*Michael Lynch singing India Arie’s “Ready For Love”
*Andrew Garcia’s performance of Chris Brown’s “Forever”
*Tim Urban’s version of The Rolling Stone classic “Under My Thumb”
These are indeed some of the better performances leading up to the Top 10 of this season, but they had to use a track from each artist to balance out the album. Sure, some of the tracks are much better than others, but this is intended to be an album that shows the mix of talents that comprise the 2010 American Idol Top 10. Producers probably hope that fans will be excited enough to first buy a copy of the album for themselves, and lead them into buying concert tickets for the American Idol Tour later on this summer.
We are down to only six contestants left on this season of American Idol, and as the season finale gets even closer, this could also be a fun way to look back on this season for fans. There is still some time before the album actually hits stores, and it will definitely be a promotion tied into the American Idol season finale as it gets closer to release. We fully expect a second album to be released as well, or for iTunes to try and take full advantage of some of the top songs from here on out.
