Rich, famous? Maybe even good-looking? If you’re a man, this means you can date a model, and many celebrity men do. Many women have wondered in the past why actors and musicians always date models, but we know that famous answer already: “because they can”. These ten male celebrities have a thing for models–find out who thinks it’s just a fling, who’s suffered a roler coaster ride, and who has found their soulmate.
Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr
The ever-gorgeous Orlando Bloom, sex symbol and actor known for his roles in blockbuster trilogies The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, has always had plenty of dating options open to him. That’s why it was no surprise when, three years ago, he began dating Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr. The Australian beauty is most recognized from her VS Angels promotions and runway shows, but she’s also modeled for a number of fashion brands and magazine spreads, including L.A.M.B, Betsey Johnson, Roberto Cavalli, Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. Miranda Kerr has also been the face of Mabelline and Clinique print and TV ads.
Shortly after announcing their engagement, People magazine reported that Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr had jetted off for a private wedding and Honeymoon. Both have seemed extremely happy in recent weeks, so here’s hoping this is a Hollywood marriage that lasts. Miranda will continue her modeling work, and up next for Orlando is the creepy thriller The Good Doctor with Taraji P. Henson, and The Three Musketters with Christoph Waltz.
Joseph Fiennes and Maria Dolores Dieguez
Joseph Fiennes set himself apart from big brother Ralph when he got Gwyneth Paltrow and ladies everywhere swooning over him in the Oscar-winning film Shakespeare in Love. Working his way through a nice career of independent films, Joseph hit mainsteam America with recent TV series FlashForward. As the Daily Mail reported, Joseph began dating Swiss model Maria Delores Dieguez in 2006. The couple married in 2009, and People magazine reported the birth of their first child in March. Joseph Fiennes is currently working on Starz series Camelot with Eva Green, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Devon Aoki
Joseph Gordon-Levitt had already acted in a string of films and TV series when he landed a high profile role on zany sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. He’s since matured on screen in a variety of film roles, including Latter Days, Stop-Loss, The Lookout, and 500 Days of Summer. The New York Post announced last month that Joseph, who often pays geek type characters, landed beauty Devon Aoki. The attractive American Japanese model/actress has, according to New York Magazine, done a variety of magazine covers and ads for Chanel, Baby Phat, and Hugo Boss. You’ll probably recognize her from films 2 Fast 2 Furious and Sin City. While Devon Aoki pursues her succesful modeling career, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is enjoying the reaction to current film Inception and looking forward to upcoming dramedy Live With It.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Rafaeli
Leonardo DiCaprio’s breakthrough role came as a teenager, starring opposite Johnny Depp in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? Gaining both popularity, hearthrob status, and critical acclaim, Leonardo has continually turned in impressive work in films like The Basketball Diaries, Marvin’s Room, Titanic, Catch Me If You Can, and Revolutionary Road. In 2006 he began dating Israeli model Bar Rafaeli, and as Access Hollywood and People magazine show, things haven’t always been easy between the two celebrities.
According to Models.com, Bar Rafaeli has done ad work, magazine spreads, and landed on the covers of Esquire and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She’s currently on the cover of VS magazine, and recently completed a shoot for Allure. Leonardo has 23 films listed as “in development” on IMDB, but after current hit Inception, we should see him in the title role in Hoover.
Guy Ritchie and Jacqui Ainsley
Part of the formula of male celebrities dating models is that particularly after a divorce, you must date much younger models. Fulfilling this cliche is director Guy Ritchie, ex-husband of Madonna, who the New York Daily News spotted with new 28 year old squeeze Jacqui Ainsley. The young model has done print as well as TV ads, including commercials for Honda and Playstation. A highlight of her career was performing in a Bond movie opener, for Die Another Day. As Jacqui Ainsley continues her career, Guy Ritchie hopes to build on the success of his films Snatch and Sherlock Holmes. (Rock n’ Rolla is my personal favorite.) The Daily Mail reports that Guy Ritchie is working on the Sherlock Holmes sequel, with stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law returning.
Jude Law and Sienna Miller
Jude Law might be what the Sex and the City girls would call a “modelizer”. In addition to flings with models like Lily Cole and Samantha Burke (with whom he has a child), handsome Jude has had an on-again off-again relationship with model and actress Sienna Miller since 2003. According to The Biography Channel, Sienna Miller has had an ongoing modeling career, posing for Italian Vogue, Prada, and Pepe Jeans amongst others. She’s also acted in films like Alfie (where she first met Law), Factory Girl, Stardust, and G.I. Joe. Next up his Hippie Hippie Shake with Cillian Murphy.
Law has built up a prolific career, first gaining notice with a poignant performance in sci-fi thriller Gattica. Other films on his impressive resume include The Talented Mr. Ripley, Road to Perdition, Cold Mountain, The Holiday, and current hit Sherlock Holmes. Next up for Law is his second performance as Watson, along with Scorsese film Hugo Cabret.
Seth Green and Clare Grant
Seth Green, the proof that hugely funny guys can come in small packages, has made a substantial career out of quirky and funny roles in shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Greg the Bunny, along with film roles in the Austin Powers franchise and recent comedy Old Dogs. He’s a favorite with geek fans for his work on Robot Chicken and Family Guy. The actor was quick to scoop up model and actress Clare Grant; as The LA Times reports, the two were engaged on New Year’s and got married five months late in May 2010. In addition to modeling, Clare did some voice work for Robot Chicken, and has appeared in films like Walk the Line and Black Snake Moan. Next up is comedy Here & Now starring Judd Nelson. For Seth it’s animated film Mars Needs Moms! with John Cusack.
Seal and Heidi Klum
R&B soul singer Seal had some of his biggest hits with singles like “Crazy” and “Kiss From a Rose” in the 90s, but he continues to record, perform, and receive Grammy nominations. He met model Heidi Klum in 2004, and was so enamored, he didn’t mind that she was carrying her ex-boyfriend’s child. The two married in 2005, and have since had three additional children together. Heidi Klum is an international modeling star, as well as well-known host and producer of series Project Runway. She never stops working, and you can visit www.heidiklum.com/en/News.aspx to get all the latest scoop on her fashion lines, Barbies, photo shoots and more. According to her websiteSeal’s site, he’s working on his new album.
Adrian Grenier and Melissa Keller, Isabel Lucas, Emily Caldwell…
Of course you can’t believe everything you read, but if Adrian Grenier has dated even half of the women he’s been linked with, he’s definitely bringing his Entourage playboy character to life. As for models, People mentions a two year relationship with Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Melissa Keller. Then Ace Showbiz talks about a blooming romance with model Emily Caldwell…and then there’s the report from Ok! Magazine that Adrian may possibly be rekindling the flame with Australian model and actress Isabel Lucas. No doubt other model rumors and relationships will appear in the future. In the meantime, Adrian Grenier has the final season of Entourage to look forward to, as well as a possible movie version in the future.
Matt Smith and Daisy Lowe
Riding high on the success of his stint as the 11th Doctor on Doctor Who, English actor Matt Smith has taken advantage of his fame and taken up with model Daisy Lowe. They’ve only been together a short time, but the Daily Mail has pics to prove how steamy the relationship is. Daisy already has an extensive modeling resume, landing print work from Jane, W, and Vogue, along with runway work for Mark Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood. Recently featured on the cover of British Vogue, she’s also interested in acting. IMDB lists her next project as Geography of the Hapless Heart. Rumors were recently flying that Matt Smith was planning on recklessly abandoning his role as Doctor, but TVOvermind hopefully puts those rumors to rest. While waiting for season 2 of Doctor Who, UK viewers can catch Smith in TV movie Christopher and His Kind.
